COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS has released the third installment of its shoe collection in collaboration with John Moore & George Cox.
The long wingtip, clad in lustrous leather and composed of medallions and perforations, and the thick crepe sole, creepers - a nostalgia that makes the back of one's nose twitch, but that's to be expected.
John graduated from London's prestigious shoe school, Cordwainers College, and opened the House of Beauty and Culture in 1987. The store led the post-punk movement that bears his name, and John, who died prematurely, was deified (his co-owner was Christopher Nemeth. (Co-owner was Christopher Nemeth, who was also a designer who was heralded as a rarity).
Creepers were the sole invented in 1949 by George Cox, who founded the company in Northampton, the holy land of shoes, and were worn by London teddy boys on the streets in the 1950s and by punks bouncing around the stage in the 1970s.
When we look back on the history of youth culture in that region, it is John Moore, George Cox, and the Creepers who shine brilliantly.
This season, Comme des Garçons Hommes Princes is based on the concept of medieval court jesters. . According to the release, they apparently had a punk spirit.
