Merikan Barbershop®, a barbershop from Kobe with the tagline, "When you look good, you feel good, and you can play your best," will expand into Shibuya this summer.

To commemorate this event, "THE UNIFORM" was created to redefine the uniform for the tough working Japanese worker. The seriousness of the project can be clearly seen in its insistence on Japanese standards.

. and supported by two of Japan's finest artisanal brands, Toraichi and THE UNION. Together, they have created workwear that can be used both at work and at play and will last a lifetime.

THE UNIFORM 2530 SWING TOP

This swing top is based on one of Toraichi's most important fabric numbers, 2530. This fabric was created in the midst of the high-growth period during the construction rush. Kohei Makita of "The Union" reinterpreted "2530," which was comfortable, sturdy, and dustproof to meet the needs of craftspeople, to create this swing top. It combines the toughness of a work jacket with the fashionable casualness of a swing top.

The lining is made of Toraichi's all-patterned fabrics, "Ni-no-ji komon" and "Narihira-koushi. The lining is made of a fabric that can be easily cleaned of stains, scratches, and even hair cuts.

[THE UNIFORM] CUT YOUR MIND DENIM

Reinterpreted from a vintage World War II model, the "2025 Denim" is one of "The Union's" most popular products. This is a reinterpretation of the vintage WWII model, and this time around, we have added a new twist. In other words, they are not painted pants, but rather berber denim.

The back of the pants is equipped with a scissor pocket, which could hold not only scissors, but also a ballpoint pen, flashlight, or ear buds.

Because they are rigid denim, one of the real pleasures of these jeans is to wear them with a lot of care and nurture them. The more you wear them, the more the color will fade and stains will adhere to them, showing your own efforts.

To coincide with the opening of MERICAN BARBERSHOP® TYO and the release of "The Uniform," a pop-up will be held at SO NAKAMEGURO, a store and hostel complex, and at "good thing," a beauty salon that does more than just hair.
