Street art, or "lowbrow art," emerged in Los Angeles in the late 1970s. In contrast to high-context art that uses traditional techniques, there are a wide variety of methods of expression, such as cartoons, animation, graffiti, and tattoos. It is also appealing to those who are not familiar with art in general, as it is easy to approach.
CANTINA mograg VERSE," a group exhibition curated by mograg gallery, which advocates such lowbrow art from a Japanese perspective, will be held at the Diesel Art Gallery. The exhibition will be held at Diesel Art Gallery, Tokyo.
The nine artists participating are shown here.
This exhibition, titled "CANTINA mograg VERSE," will exhibit and sell more than 60 new works with the motif of a "bar (CANTINA). The exhibition venue is also designed in the motif of a bar, expressing through the works and the venue the joy and pleasure of being in contact with people, which has been obscured by the Corona Disaster.
Limited-edition goods created especially for this event will be on sale, as well as T-shirts created in collaboration with Diesel and Mograg Gallery. In addition, special events by the participating artists are scheduled during the exhibition period, so be sure to visit the venue. The exhibition will run for about three months from June 10 (Sat) to September 7 (Thu), so come not once, but twice or thrice!
