The first photo book by Yasuto Inotateyama that captures Tokyo today. An exhibition will also be held at Salt & Pepper.

A 27-year-old photographer based in Tokyo,Yasuto InotateyamaHe first became interested in film cameras when he moved to the United States at the age of 18. His interest in film cameras began when he moved to the U.S. at the age of 18, and over the next decade or so he continued to photograph friends and street scenes in countries around the world.

In conjunction with the publication of "Dramatic Tokyo," Inotateyama's first photo book, "Salt and Pepper" will hold a solo exhibition of the same title.

This collection, titled "Dramatic Tokyo," features photographs of various subjects he encountered in the city of Tokyo, where he is based. While the collection is based on documentary photography, it is also fantastical, and in a good sense, it is a collection of photographs with a sense of discomfort.

And on the occasion of the photobook release and exhibition, we also received a statement from Mr. Inotateyama.

Dramatic Tokyo" is like a shot in the arm as a greeting. Many people these days long for the old Japan, but it is no fun if we, as people living in the present time, do not enjoy the present. With this in mind, I clipped out the Japan of today. Tokyo is as cinematic as ever, a city of mixed light and darkness. No other country has such a hard-boiled city.

The exhibition at Salt and Pepper will run from Thursday, August 23 through Wednesday, September 6. The artist himself will be in the gallery on the opening day, so please drop by if you are in the neighborhood.
