It was the Wu-Tang Clan and Boot Camp Click who first introduced me to Timberland's 6-inch Premium Waterproof Boots, or "yellow boots. They were so into wearing them that they rapped about how great they were, and we all copied their style because it was just so cool.
The yellow boot, an icon of hip-hop and, by extension, street fashion, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
To commemorate this anniversary year, Timberland has launched "FUTURE 73," a project that summons six designers to reimagine the yellow boot from a new perspective and sensibility. The fourth release today, August 30, is Samuel Ross, designer of "A-COLD-WALL*," a leader in the British street scene.
The capsule collection encompasses Yellow Boots and Three Eye Classic , as well as an array of apparel.
Samuel Ross x Timberland® Future 73 6" Boots ¥40,700
Samuel Ross x Timberland® Future 73 Three-Eye Boat Shoes ¥37,400
The yellow boots have been updated to a side-zip design that eliminates the traditional lacing system. The minimalist boots are clad in black premium leather.
The Three-Eye Classic, on the other hand, has a navy ripstop upper and GORE-TEX® lining for an everyday look. The logos of both men's shoes, which are the proof of the collaboration, also add a nice accent.
Samuel Ross x Timberland® Future 73 Cotton Filled Vest ¥96,800
Samuel Ross x Timberland® Future 73 oversized shirt ¥89,100
Samuel Ross x Timberland® Future 73 Crew Neck Sweatshirt ¥67,100
Samuel Ross x Timberland® Future 73 Knit ¥67,100
Samuel Ross x Timberland® Future 73 Crewneck Sweatshirt ¥67,100
Samuel Ross x Timberland® Future 73 Cargo Pants ¥82,500
Samuel Ross x Timberland® Future 73 Chore Jacket ¥148,500
The apparel includes a total of seven models: a choir jacket, a vest with padding, an oversized shirt, cargo pants, two sweatshirts, and a knit. Many of them have undergone product dyeing and printing processes by hand, and they all have a somewhat decadent and imperfect design that is typical of "A Cold Wall".
The Yellow Boot has been transformed into a completely new look by working with up-and-coming designers, but it still retains its Yellow Boot character because of its 50-year history and nostalgia. Through "Future 73," we hope you will experience both tradition and innovation at Yellow Boot.
