Along with trench coats,[Claire] Burberry! The cape is one of the iconic items of the At the runway show held in London in February this year, models wearing one-of-a-kind couture capes appeared in the finale. The show dramatically expressed the craftsmanship that has been built up over a long history.
THE CAPE REIMAGINED," an exhibition focusing on this couture cape, will be held in Shibuya, Tokyo, starting on Thursday, July 20. This project started in London after the February show and traveled to Seoul, New York, Milan, Los Angeles, and other cities. The event attracted a lot of attention as an event where the capes, which could be considered works of art, could be seen up close.
Some of the capes are very labor intensive, taking approximately 560 hours to tailor and over 153,000 hand stitches. In addition, the materials used include lace and cotton taken from the brand's archives, as well as more unexpected materials such as tulle, feathers, crystals, felted wool, and tassels.
A limited edition of 20 copies of a visual book focusing on the cape will also be available for purchase at the exhibition. This is a great opportunity to experience the creativity of Burberry. This event is a must-see for fashion lovers as well as young people who aspire to become fashion designers.
