Shiretoko National Park's anniversary project has begun, with events by The North Face and Snow Peak in September!

This year marks 60 years since Shiretoko was designated as a national park, and next year will mark 20 years since it was registered as a World Natural Heritage site. To commemorate this event, an executive committee for the anniversary project was formed, consisting of the Ministry of the Environment, the Forestry Agency, Hokkaido, Shari Town, and Rausu Town. In cooperation with GOLDWIN and Snow Peak, which are official partners of the national park and also operate businesses in Shiretoko, the committee will promote nature experiences and values unique to Shiretoko.

Shiretoko is full of nature everywhere you turn, and offers a variety of activities such as fishing, mountain climbing, and drift ice walks, as well as spectacular views, gourmet food, hot springs, animal watching, and a wide range of other experiences. This project was launched with the aim of reaffirming the attractiveness of Shiretoko and widely disseminating information on rules and risk management as a sustainable way to enjoy the area. At the same time, we will create a high-quality natural environment where people can enjoy the excitement and learning, and promote efforts to pass it on to the next generation over the next two years.

As part of this effort, GOLDWIN's THE NORTH FACE and Shari-cho, and Snow Peak and Rausu-cho will hold a joint event called the Shiretoko Adventure Festival this September. The event will provide an opportunity to think about the balance between "protection and use" of national parks through various contents such as film festivals, talk shows, field activities, and camping.
