DIOR has chosen Hilton Nell as its collaborator. Hilton is a South African based potter who is a favorite of Kim Jones, Creative Director of Men's Design.
It is only natural that the spotlight should be on Christian Dior and others in the limelight, but no collection, no matter how outstanding the creations, is complete without craftsmen who understand and can give form to them. Kim entrusted Hilton with this thought.
Chest pocket with wrapped buttons. The neat stitch work is also beautiful.
Cotton with a hint of weave, flap pockets, and a turnover reminiscent of a corduroy collar. If you pick up the details, it is indeed like a potter's work clothes, but the finished product gives you a different impression. What confused my mind was the haute couture nurtured in the neat tailoring and the wrapped buttons.
I think this is the extreme north of the method of sublimating the conflicting essences of workwear and streetwear into luxury.
