Penfolds, one of the most prestigious wine regions in Australia, has been working with NIGO as a creative partner for the past two years and has just completed a new bottle as its final project.
Penfolds 65F BY NIGO Suggested retail price 750ml ¥60,500
This year's bottle was designed from archival materials, paying homage to the brand's history. The label was inspired by the 1930s to 1950s. The tissue paper that wraps the bottle is an adaptation of the Penfolds logo used in the early 20th century.
The wine stopper features the red and white chimneys that NIGO saw during his first visit to Penfolds Magill Estate in South Australia. The bottle is also named after the chimney, which is 65 feet high.
Aged in 1001 TP10T French oak barrique barrels, this limited edition 2021 vintage celebrates the tradition of blending Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
This wine is made from grapes harvested from carefully selected vineyards throughout South Australia and blended from multiple regions, and every step of the process, from vineyard selection to barrel selection, has been carefully considered. It is a bit pricey, but many people will want to get their hands on a bottle because it is a premium wine.
Finally, please read the message received from Mr. NIGO.
I was honored to work on this design to commemorate my first visit to the Penfolds McGill Estate. The chimney remains vivid in my memory as a unique piece of [Penfolds'] history, and having the opportunity to use an archival icon was an unparalleled experience.
This new bottle is now available at select fine wine retailers and duty free stores in Japan. For more information, please contactOfficial online siteCheck out the
