Satoko Shibata and Ozora Kimijima absorb nutrients at the festival.

Music festivals take place in the great outdoors. For audiences, it is a special space for a different kind of musical experience and a place to soothe the soul away from the hustle and bustle of the city. But what about the artists who take the stage? For them, a festival is something more than just a place to perform. We caught up with Satoko Shibata and Ozora Kimijima, who recently performed at "FUJI & SUN '25" in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and asked them about the nourishment that only artists can know and absorb only at festivals.

Intense fandom seen in Hokkaido.

- Do you have any memories of the festival?

Shibata: Being from Sapporo, I have only been to festivals in Hokkaido, but I was seriously surprised when I saw Koji Kikkawa, Eikichi Yazawa, and Yosui Inoue in person. I was really surprised when I saw Koji Kikkawa, Eikichi Yazawa, and Yosui Inoue live. I will always have a strong impression of these three great musicians, whom I rarely have a chance to see on stage.

To be honest, I had never really listened to it before, but when all my friends went to see it together and said, "It looks kind of awesome, let's go see it," we were all blown away. It was too cool! I was like, "Oh my gosh, this is too cool!

- Certainly the live performances by the three of them look terrific.

Shibata: I think it was Ei-chan's stage, and the fans were really into it. Despite the dust and sand, the men were dressed in white suits and the women were wearing nice skirts. I honestly thought it was cool. I was surprised to see this kind of fandom.

-By that I mean that Mr. Shibata seems to have built a solid fandom as well. When I look at his fans, I see that they wear glasses just like Mr. Shibata and have similar hair styles. I can tell that they are Mr. Shibata's fans by the atmosphere they give off.

Shibata: I hope so. I was also happy to see some people wearing the goods we released last year at today's show.

-Now finally, please tell us about your most recent activities, if any.

Shibata: First of all, we have a tour coming up in the summer, so we are looking forward to seeing you! Also, we will be releasing a 7-inch titled "Passing" in July, and it's been a while since we've released a 7-inch, but this one is really good. When I heard it for the first time, I was so excited about how good it was that I couldn't help but send a message to the staff saying, "I'm glad you liked it! I was so excited when I heard it for the first time. I was so excited when I heard it for the first time that I couldn't help but send a message to the staff saying, "I'm so glad! I know, it's not nice to say so myself. ...... (laughs).

Interview 02
Ohzora Kimishima
Harmony of rainy man and cloudy weather.

-Abad weather, but it was a great show. Thanks for your hard work!

Kimishima: It was really just in time. I'm a big rain man. In the past, I've been caught in typhoons that have moved north and entered Naeba. I thought it might be bad again today, but I'm glad it didn't rain just in time.

-This is your third time to perform at "FUJI & SUN," isn't it?

Kimishima: Yes, the first one was on the main stage and I think we were on around noon. Last year we were on the sub stage and played after the headliners were done. They were like, "Hey, you guys can't leave. Yeah!" Like that.

-That sounds like a lot of fun (laughs). As you mentioned on stage today, do you like to perform in the evening?

Kimishima: I always wanted to do it in the evening. I like the time of day when the gradation comes out, so if I'm going to do it outside, I prefer the evening.

-The time of day, 16:00, and the cloudy sky were wonderful, just like Mr. Kimishima.

Kimishima: I don't know what I would have done if the sky had cleared up. It was also nice to have the fog rolling in. I felt like there was plenty of moisture around me and my throat was moist. It was like singing in the bath. Today was so perfect.

-She named it "big sky" and said she doesn't like clear skies.

Kimishima: That's right (laughs).
