A big newcomer has arrived!
One thing I carry with me on and off the job is a water bottle. Until a few years ago, I used to buy bottled water from a vending machine when I was thirsty, but I stopped when I bought a water bottle. Now I don't feel comfortable unless I have this in my bag (laughs). Water bottles come in a variety of designs and sizes, but I fell in love with this one at first sight. This is the Clima Bottle from 24Bottles. It's not about the quality of the materials, but it's about the design! Tips for good living.
The bible of life is Shotaro Ikenami's book "Otoko-no-Sakuho" (1984, published by Shinchosha). As an only child, I am a type B self-centered person. Of course, I received a normal education and grew up to be an adult, but when I read this book in my 30s, I realized that I had no common sense. That time is finite, the importance of health, the need to care.... There is no formula for a better life, but I felt like there were some vague rules. I recently made a similar discovery in Juzo Itami's book "My Uncle" (2017), which I happened to pick up. This is a book of essays from the 1960s and 1970s. It is a multifaceted account of what he saw, felt, and experienced in the years before he became a filmmaker. The soft and humorous style of writing is pleasant and easy to read. Especially as a father of a child, I found the part about "the main policy of child-rearing" very helpful. This book is also full of hints on how to live a good life.

Ever since my first visit in February of this year, I have had Yamagata's "Endo" in the corner of my mind; although it is only a one-minute walk from the nearest station, JR Hazen Chitose Station (unmanned), it is not the most flattering place to get around. Even so, the third-generation owner, Hidenori Endo, and his team have continued to attract many fans with a variety of tricks, mainly with the hit "Gesoten," and with their old-fashioned, "goyobin-like" work ethic. His momentum is so tremendous that he even held a pop-up in Taiwan, his first overseas stop, in June and July of this year, and a peek at his SNS shows that his talk show there was also sold out. I am planning to visit the summer festival, which is held every summer and is scheduled for August 23 (Saturday) this year. Until then, I will drink beer in a small 170-milliliter glass with a depiction of the Geso man on it, relax at home, listen to music, and spend my time imagining how the place will be crowded with Endo fans like myself and local people.
