Interview with Junki Tozuka It is important to live while cherishing the present moment.
How did you feel when you tried on the "Khaki Field" this time?
Totsuka: It's a very cool watch. It has the flexibility to be worn in any situation. I like a watch that fits in with my style immediately, and I felt that in all the Khaki Field models. I like watches that fit my style immediately, and I felt that in every model of the Khaki Field. They are very familiar to me. I think the wide range of models, from the playful to the dignified, is also attractive.
You have worn three "Khaki Fields". Which one do you particularly like?
Totsuka: It's "Murph." There is something classic and classy about it. I like American casual, and it looks good with a leather jacket, but it also fits with a suit style, so I thought it would be a good fit for me as I enter my 30s and climb the ladder of adulthood.
Which of the "Entertainment," "Adventure," and "Heritage" rooms represented in "Find your KHAKI" fit you best?
Totsuka: I was most excited by the "entertainment" aspect. I like the knick-knacks they have in their rooms, and I have a lot of figurines and ornaments in my room as well. The interior design tickled my collector's fancy and stimulated my brain.
I understand that you are a fan of "PSR" by "Hamilton" for private parties.

Photographs are personal belongings of Ms. Totsuka.
Totsuka: I bought it because of my love for the movie "Men in Black. I bought it at a turning point in my development as an actor, and it holds a lot of memories for me.
Mr. Totsuka is also a certified auto mechanic, so he must really like machines.
Totsuka: I love mechas and things like gears. I once saw a documentary about watches. The craftsman was making a watch through a process that seemed to take a long time to complete, and he had to make the most minute parts by himself and assemble them.
I am also an actor myself, and the accumulation of detailed experiences and insights are important to my acting. So I feel we have something in common, and I think that is why I enjoy doing it.
It will soon be 15 years since your debut as an actor.
Totsuka: I think it is really hard to keep going. Looking back, there were times when things didn't go well, but I feel that my strength lies in the fact that I didn't let those times get me down. Now I have a stronger sense of responsibility to show what I have learned through my acting. My sense of responsibility has become even stronger.
You are feeling the accumulation of time over the past 15 years.
Totsuka: That's right. I always want to stay fresh in my mind, but recently I was told by a senior actor with whom I perform on stage, "You are no longer a young actor. When I hear that again, it really makes me stand taller.
I am curious to know what you thought about the future after receiving such advice.
Totsuka: I want to continue working as an actor, but I have to make sure I don't lose sight of what makes me who I am. I don't want to do it until I lose it.
What do you think is "your personality"?
Totsuka: I am just an ordinary person from Iwate. That's how I really feel. If I try to force myself to look big, I will probably fail, and if I disrupt my pace, I don't think people will feel comfortable watching me. So I want to keep my own pace.
There were other actors in my class who were successful long before me and after me, and I felt that I was not yet ready, but I was not in a hurry. I was just me, and I felt that I would eventually make it.
Because we are different from others, we can do many different things, and I want to cherish these things.
What kind of actor do you want to be over the next 20 or 30 years?
Totsuka: In my current stage productions, I have had the opportunity to work with such leading actors as Naoto Takenaka and Katsuhisa Namase, both of whom have been active on the front lines since they were young. Both of them are, of course, first-rate performers, but even before that, I strongly feel their appeal as human beings or as people. I think that is really cool and beautiful. I would like to become someone with that kind of charm, and I think it is important to live one's life while cherishing the present moment, rather than looking ahead to the future. I want to enjoy the process of living while constantly confronting myself.
