A painter paints with his whole body.
Kentaro Matsuki (Painter)
Kentaro creates abstract paintings in which he captures landscapes and objects through his own unique lens and reconstructs them. This led him to the concept of “fractals,” in which the same structure appears in both the parts and the whole.
"Ever since I was a child, I've been drawing intricate patterns—like giraffe spots—in my notebooks. I loved overlapping shapes and arranging them in ways that felt harmonious to me."
He says that drawing patterns feels almost like meditation to him. As he searches for a comfortable balance, he moves his hands with a clear mind.
When working on a large canvas—bending down, taking a step back to look at it—the process is more physically demanding than you might imagine. That’s exactly why comfort underfoot is essential to support your body.
"The sole is sturdy, yet it allows for easy movement and doesn't put any undue strain on my feet. It looks like I won't get tired even if I wear them for a long time."
His everyday fashion also centers on casual, stress-free outfits. A pair of black leather shoes provides just the right amount of structure to this relaxed style. He paints using his whole body while keeping his mind focused. For him, as he moves between stillness and motion, shoes that allow him to move comfortably are also an indispensable tool for his work.
