FACE does not like to be bothered by missing things abroad, so she always brings extra luggage just in case. Sandals are one of those things.

FACE / Illustrator
Questioning the "coldness" of today's computer graphics that "anyone can do", she began her career as an illustrator in 2014, focusing on hand-drawing in search of "warmth that only she can create". While continuing to express herself in a variety of ways through magazine illustrations and clothing graphics, she is also active as an artist, holding solo exhibitions on a regular basis.

He travels abroad about once a year. Although FACE says that he is not an experienced traveler, the experiences he has had and the things he has seen on his travels seem to be a source of inspiration for his work.

What kind of business do you often go abroad for?
FACEI would go overseas to exhibit my paintings at pop-up stores, and while there, I would go sightseeing, and I would be introduced to local people. I guess it is half work and half play. Recently, I have been going to New York, Los Angeles, and Europe.
The scenery of a foreign city seems to bring good stimulation to FACE.
FACEOriginally, I was influenced by street culture from the late 90s, so the atmosphere of the real place is a good source of inspiration. When I actually go there, even a sign on the side of the road or a scrap of paper on the ground becomes a source of inspiration.

That would make me want to paint while traveling.
FACEThat's right. So that I can always be ready to draw, I bring a pack of copy paper that I usually use when I travel. I often get brushes and pens at local art supply stores that are not sold in Japan.
How do you dress to go abroad?
FACEThey dress as roughly as they normally do in Japan. Especially in the summer, my feet are always in sandals.

What are the advantages of wearing sandals when traveling?
FACEThey are easy on the feet on the plane and can be used as room shoes at the inn. They can also be used as room shoes at the hotel. And in the summer, they are much more comfortable because there is no heat buildup inside the shoes.

The use of EVA material has realized an overwhelmingly light weight. It's amazing how lightweight it is while still being firm to the touch," says FACE.
So how about the CV sandals we chose this time?
FACEThey are just so light. The canvas material of the upper is resilient, and the footbed is soft and comfortable. It looks like I won't get tired even if I walk long distances.

These sandals are perfect for traveling.
FACEThe fact that it doesn't take up much space when packed in a bag is also great for me, as I have a lot of luggage. It is very portable, so it is convenient to keep in my travel bag.

It follows the All Star's characteristic detail of the inner pigeonholes. This little detail also tickles the hearts of fans.
What would FACE wear with these sandals?
FACEI have been wearing Converse for a long time, and even though they are sandals, the materials and details follow the originals, so I can wear them without feeling uncomfortable. I think I can style them as if I were wearing regular All-Stars.

Certainly, they are different from conventional sandals, aren't they?
FACEI'm also happy to see that they are available in the standard colors of navy, red, and black. All of the colors blend easily with my style. They are more like easy-going sneakers than sneakers.
Rough and simple FACE's travel style

A large soft carry-on case is usually packed for two to four nights. Art materials used for painting are placed in the backpack, and luggage that is often taken in and out of the bag is placed in a sakosh around his neck. I usually wear simple styling such as all black, so casual items such as sandals are easy to match," says FACE.
An effortless sandal that retains the All Star vibe.
