Running Through Youth" for just the three of us.
How did you balance communication among the actors on the set?
Sugata: YOSHI was a big part of it. I feel that he took care of the balance with his passion. What do you like? What is living? but the very body of YOSHI, which is moving in reality, seems to be the essence of this film. We just had to adapt to it.
Nakano:Yeah, I think it's true! That could certainly be true.
Sugata:He was not afraid of anything, and his punch was great. But YOSHI still has a part of him that he can't quite finish, both in his personal life and in his roles. He talks to me about school and his work, but because of his personality, he seems to have a lot of conflicts with other people. But because of that, he has a lot of hardships and hurts in his life, so he knows how painful it can be. When a guy like that plays the role of Taro, he is the most convincing person I've ever met. Taro is barking, so we should bark too.
How did you feel about the role of Ege?
Sugata:From the perspective of Eiji, who played the role of Taro, he is a kind of weak existence, and having someone like Taro who follows him around gives him a sense of comfort, like a "country" of his own. There is a place where you can only let out who you are and who you want to be. However, when I put those ideals out there, they don't work out the way I want them to, and the bounce back is strong, and I get hurt again.

Sugata:Eiji still doesn't want to give up, but he can't do it. Taro is a person who can go ahead regardless of such things, but he lacks experience and knowledge. That is why he follows Eiji. And Sugio, who seems to be the most backward and the most restrained, but because of that, at a certain moment, his brakes break and he pushes forward more than anyone else. Of course, it may not have been a pleasant ending, but this balance is what youth means to them.
It is true that youth is something that is unique to each person, something that is not understood by those around you, something that is a treasure unique to you.
Sugata:Yes, yes. But even though I understand the importance of this, it is difficult to actually do it. So I have only one personal goal, and that is to run through the show with the three of us. I already know that I can be young to death in the play, including my personal relationship with Taiga.

Sugata:But Taro didn't understand. We just wanted to have a good laugh with the three of us. There were times, for example, when I was out with friends late at night and woke up the next day to find that we had mysteriously taken a lot of videos.
Nakano:There is.
Sugata:I wonder what was so interesting about it (laughs). (laughs) My selfish goal was to have the three of us spend that kind of time together. And we were able to do that. We did have that time on the set and during the play. I guess I am satisfied now.

I heard that the two of you are also close in your private life. Oh, they are perfectly linked in drinking water now, too.
Sugata:Yes! It really happens often. Remember when we were shooting earlier and I let out a "swoosh" of breath at the same time? I thought, "Wow, that's embarrassing.
Nakano:There was a lot going on just today (laughs). He said the same thing at the same time at the stage greeting.
Sugata:I'm used to it now, but it's still weird (laughs).
