Musca, of which you are CEO, has created a biomass recycling system using housefly larvae, right?
Yes . When we sow housefly eggs in organic waste such as food scraps and livestock excrement, they are converted in one week into animal feed and fertilizer for agriculture. By using this system, we believe we can solve the future food crisis with as little environmental impact as possible.
What made you decide to get involved in this business?
In the past, I worked as a freelance PR person and was involved in PR strategies for various companies, but I once had a flat tire from taking on too much work, so I created a criteria for taking on jobs at that time. That is, "Will my children need it when they are 80 years old?" , and this business fit the bill perfectly.

. In April 2019, you went from interim CEO to CEO. Are there any changes because of that?
. I think my responsibility has become heavier. Of course, I have always worked with a strong sense of responsibility, but I feel that the way others view me has changed dramatically. . Because what is expected of me has changed as a result, the things I am conscious of have changed as well. Especially now, I have to think about how to spread this business and how to expand awareness of it, so I would like to improve my abilities to make myself more capable of contributing to this business.
As a CEO, you must have a lot of opportunities to meet with people.
We meet with a variety of people, from investors and government officials to those in the livestock industry who use "Musca" feed and fertilizer. So it is very difficult to choose the right time and place for meetings. Sometimes I have a business meeting in Tokyo and then go to Musca's laboratory in Miyazaki Prefecture. Especially for those who work in primary industries, I don't want to be too formal or distant. On the other hand, people in the government sector are dressed in suits and look very neat. So I try to find the right balance between the two.
. So you want clothes that can be worn seamlessly in a variety of places.
Yes, I do. In my mind, there is not much of a boundary between the two. I don't switch my clothes between business and private life, so I usually wear only Muska's original T-shirts (laughs).
. Then, it seems that the shirt you wore today can be worn for any occasion.
. That was the point in choosing this shirt. . I think this will work no matter where I wear it. When I am with my child, I try to choose clothes that I don't mind getting dirty, but when I go out to lunch with my mom's friends, depending on the place, I want to wear something decent. . So I'm glad that the clothes can be worn in a variety of styles. And the colors are great.

The Alberta coat worn over a shirt is also designed to be used in various situations. Moreover, it is made of GORE-TEX material, making it waterproof and windproof.
Waterproofing would be very helpful. . I hate using umbrellas anyway. . I usually wear a hood to keep out the rain (laughs). Especially these days, the weather often changes suddenly, so even if it suddenly starts raining, I don't have to worry if I have this on. It has an authentic design and the silhouette is relaxed, so I can wear it anywhere. I also like that it comes with a removable hood.
