I wanted to do it in a color that I don't usually do very often.
Do you have any changes in the silhouette compared to the in-line items?
South:Both the shirt and the pants are made to be somewhat loose-fitting. However, they are not extremely large; the shirt is just a little loose at the shoulders, and the pants are slightly wider in the crotch and tapered loosely. I thought it would look better with these sneakers if they were a little thicker.
Kaneko:If you are going to wear Stan Smiths, the top and bottom should be a little loose. It's not like you want it to be just right. If I had been aiming for that, I wouldn't have asked Graphpaper to do it in the first place (laughs).
I see (laughs). The pants are an adaptation of Graphpaper's standard "chef pants," right?

Even when squeezed tight, there is no sense of compression, and the pants are smooth and comfortable to wear.
South:Yes . This is a free size. I think many people always get confused about the size when buying pants, but with this item, you don't have to worry about that. Well, the main focus is on shoes, so you shouldn't make them worry about pants (laughs). (Laughs) . The tapered shape goes well with Stan Smiths, so this was the first item I suggested. They look like slacks, but they are easy and comfortable to wear, and you will be addicted to them.
Are the shirts one size fits all?
. The sleeves are cuffless.

South:We have two sizes available, but there is not that much difference between them. We decided to offer two sizes because we felt that some people would prefer a wider body width and the way the shoulders fall, so we left those things up to the customer. However, we reviewed the pattern many times to ensure that the silhouette would be beautiful even if a thin person wore it, so I really want you to try it on.
What do you think about the colors? They are available in three colors: brown, navy, and black for the "Shibuya Scramble Square" store that will open in November, and I would like to know about your commitment to that.
Kaneko:I was the one who chose this color. Navy and black are the obvious colors, but we were talking about wanting something more.
South:You mentioned that you wanted to use colors that you don't usually use.
Kaneko:So, since the color insert for this "Stan Smith" is gold, I thought brown or beige would be good too. A brown like azuki brown with a slight reddish tinge . . I thought this would be a classy color as well.
I feel like the dots have been connected as a clean line.
A: Basically, Kaneko-san and Yamamoto-san were involved in the initial idea and the color order?
South:We exchanged a lot of opinions. Basically, I would make suggestions, and the three of us would discuss them.
Kaneko:Whenever I work with Mr. Minami, I don't have a theme, as I did this time. . We just came up with ideas that popped up in our daily conversations.
South:. The conversation starts from a rather abstract memory, like, "Oh, by the way, there was an item like that, wasn't there?
Kaneko:. it's like an idea is born from a conversation between clothes lovers. So in this case, it's a little different from usual.
In that sense, did you discuss various aspects of the "Stan Smith" project?
Kaneko:Now that you mention it, I realize that we never discussed it. Maybe that's because "Stan Smiths is really a classic of all the classics.
South:Yes, I agree. I think everyone has their own feelings about this item, but I think that each of these feelings is almost equal to the Stan Smith feeling.
So you can share without having to talk to each other.
South:Yeah, it's totally done, isn't it . That's how great these sneakers are.
What has the reaction been like in stores since the release of the product?
Yamamoto:Very nice . The set-ups have already sold quite well. Some customers buy them as a set, and some buy the top and bottom as a single item.
South:I feel that people who like ours want to buy a set-up. There are also couples who come here and she borrows her boyfriend's set and wears it. . It's just getting chilly, so the timing is perfect for the season.

Kaneko:Yes, we do. We deal in both shoes and set-ups. This project was formed by connecting various dots, including the relationship between the three of us, as well as the connection between Stan Smiths, a global classic, and Graphpaper's classic set-up. I felt like the dots were connected, and it was a great feeling. I would be happy if the customers could feel that flow.
