In order to maximize the performance of athletes, sports brands are applying various technologies to their products. The ZIG KINETICA CONCEPT TYPE 1 released by Reebok is one such product. The ZIG KINETICA CONCEPT TYPE 1 is the successor to the ZIG TECH, which boasted such high performance that it was banned from being worn in certain marathon competitions. The design was created by Ian Paley of Garbstore, who has a close relationship with this brand. We asked fashion designers who have collaborated with Reebok in the past to inspect the new model, which combines performance and stylish design. You have released a collaborative model of "Pump Fury" with "With Limited" in the past.

Lower field:I was approached by Mr. Kunii of "mita sneakers" and have collaborated with "Reebok" several times, not only on "Pump Fury" products. Since I myself am a pump lover, I am often asked to collaborate on the pump series.

What did you have in mind when designing?

Lower field:When you take a quick look at it, you can tell that it is a collaboration with our brand. Since a one-tone, solid look is not something we do, I try to create it by constructing it in my own way.

What is your impression of the Reebok brand to begin with?

Lower field:You release very innovative items, don't you? I fell in love with Reebok because of the "Pump Fury. At the time, other brands' shoes were popular, but I was wearing a pump.

Why did you choose Pump Fury?

Lower field:When I saw it for the first time in a magazine, I was shocked. I was working at a store called World Sports Plaza, and I remember asking the person who was going to buy the product to please buy it for me.

There was also a player in the NBA named Dee Brown, who also wore Pump bash shoes, so I was also influenced by that culture.

Today, they are one of Reebok's most iconic models, but at the time, people would ask me, "Why do you want such strange shoes? I remember people asking me why I wanted such a strange pair of shoes. I remember people around me were a bit upset (laughs). I think the design was that innovative, and the pump system was revolutionary. I also wore pump tennis shoes, and I didn't wear them with anyone else on the street.

It was a little bit out of the mainstream at the time.

Lower field:I am an innocent person, so I have a sense of choosing items that are different from the trends. I want to look for what I really like and make choices with conviction, without being bound by trends.
