. I was wondering if you could tell us about your two recent books.

Matayoshi:What does Mr. Tanijiri's "CHANGE" say about you?

Valley bottom:The way of working in design firms is quite classic, and many of my seniors were complaining that they could not make ends meet with such a low design fee. Seeing this, I felt that unless we change the way we do things, there is no future for us. Moreover, there are many people who are worried about their working style. So, I thought it would be a good idea to create something that would be a trigger.

Matayoshi:Is it a book about how to work?

Valley bottom:An architect cannot work alone. Even if they have an interesting idea, they have to commission it and have it created. . Therefore, I write not only about how to work, but also about communication.

Valley bottom:At first, everyone was against "Sha Shokudo" as well. They said, "Who would come all the way to a place so far from Yoyogi Uehara Station? or "I don't want the smell of rice coming into the office," or "What about confidentiality? . But I thought to myself, "This is just not yet valued," and decided to give it a try. . while communicating with various people.

Matayoshi:That takes a lot of courage, doesn't it? It's a risky thing.

Valley bottom:Yes, I agree. . but I think there is a blue ocean in what everyone hates. . Therefore, I think it is best to take the risk as soon as possible and create something ideal ourselves right away.

Do you have something you want to express through your works?

Matayoshi:. It really grates on my nerves that literature has become something for smart people. Fashion and music have penetrated such a wide range of people . So, I want people from all walks of life to read my work.

Valley bottom:That way, we can expand the scope of our activities.

Matayoshi:That's exactly how I feel. With this in mind, I write about characters who are interested in music and fashion, but I don't have many opportunities to have these people read my books.

In "Ningen" there is a character named "Taichi Nakano" who wears glasses.

Matayoshi:. There may be a lot of settings in which the person presents himself or herself in an intellectual atmosphere. The same is true for the image of an ordinary person who is particular about what he does, or a sensitive person. Taichi Nakano is a person who does not have an "I am this" image. Therefore, he is easily influenced by his surroundings.

Valley bottom:Glasses, even in reality, have that kind of self-directing effect.

Do you ever feel different when you wear glasses?

Valley bottom:. it's still there. Just as wearing a suit makes you stand taller, wearing glasses makes you look similar to that. Also, since they are a part of fashion, they can be a deciding factor in styling, just like a bag or shoes.

Matayoshi:I sometimes decide on a coordinated look based on my glasses. When I go to see a play or visit a museum, I choose glasses without frames, even though it is just a matter of my mood. . But sometimes I forget my glasses at home. When I realize this while I am on the road, I sometimes get sick of everything and want to go home immediately (laughs).
