Matsui-san, who curated the exhibition, what did you have in mind?
Matsui:What would happen if we invited the best restaurants in Tokyo today? I thought, "What if I were to invite the best restaurants in Tokyo today? I had been to many restaurants, but I knew I couldn't miss Kabi in Meguro, and I wanted to try the sake of Kai Tanaka and Sorato Nomura of "The OPEN BOOK. I also wanted to have a cup of coffee from Switch Coffee Tokyo in the morning. . I wanted to have the best lineup in my own way.
. It is simply a matter of whether or not I want to go. Even if "K5" were in Fukuoka or New York, would I want to go all the way to Fukuoka or New York? I asked for people who could create such a situation. There were stores that turned us down when we first asked, but there were also stores that managed to get us in after repeated requests.

Oka:. all of the stores that are going to be in here, the final fix is rather recent. At one point, there was even talk of a sushi restaurant.
Honma:. there was. There was even a florist shop as an idea. Mr. Matsui made a proposal, and although I may give my opinion on it, basically all the stores are good. I was never opposed to the idea, but the lineup is completely different from the first proposal (laughs).
Matsui:Yes, yes (laughs). (Laughs) What Oka was talking about earlier, "Creativity outperforms logic," means that when you look at the numbers, you can say, "Isn't this a good way to use them? When you look at the numbers, you can say, "This is a good way to use them. If we add a bar to the restaurant, it would be more profitable. And so on. But in the end, what we all came back to was, "If this were in K5, would people visit? . It was not about the amount of money or the number, but about whether or not the feelings of the people would be stronger than the amount of money or the number.
. It took you until the very last minute to come up with the answer.
Matsui:. we were thinking until the last minute about the final layout and how to use the space. This could delay the opening, and it would be difficult from a financial standpoint, but we were talking about doing our best to make it a facility that people would definitely want to go to.
Honma:But we also make hostels, and that happens no matter how many times we do it. Unless you have a lot of experience and imagination, it is impossible to predict what will happen two years from now. If everyone is willing to cooperate and work hard, we should be able to change things until the very last minute, and to put it another way, we should be able to change things even after the hostel opens. In the extreme, it should be possible to change things even after opening. It is difficult from an accountability standpoint, it is difficult from a financial calculation standpoint, and there is the mental uncertainty of "will it all work out in the end? . If you can endure that, it will always be there. If you can bear it, I think the right thing to do is to keep going. However, I am causing trouble in many areas because I do this... (wry smile).
