Shoes and watches are up-to-date.
I want to use it.
What do you look for when choosing gear other than clothing?
Akuzawa:I like old and junk things when it comes to everyday clothes and things, but when it comes to running gear, high-tech is by far the best. The latest is the best in terms of functionality, whether it is shoes or watches . I always want to be comfortable when I run, and I don't want to feel stressed out there, so I always want to use the newest stuff.

Akuzawa-san, what kind of presence does a wristwatch have in your running life?
Akuzawa:I generally don't wear any kind of jewelry and I don't wear a watch, but I wear a Suunto watch only when I run. I only wear a Suunto watch when I run because I want to check my pace and distance while I am running, and because I want to keep a log of my runs by connecting it to my smartphone.

How are you using Suunto's new "SUUNTO 7"?
Akuzawa:I like the fact that it can measure not only the distance and pace I run, but also my heart rate. Since I started using the SUUNTO 7, I have become more aware of my heart rate while running. . Another detail is that the belt is very comfortable to wear. I have thin wrists, but it fits me perfectly and comfortably.
When running, of course,
Excellent as a smartwatch.
The SUUNTO 7 is both a running watch and a smartwatch running Wear OS by Google. Which features do you find particularly useful as a smartwatch?
Akuzawa:I appreciate being notified of incoming LINE and Messenger calls, and the translation function is very useful. . The screen is beautiful and I was surprised at how clear the maps are. . Even if I get lost while running, I don't have to worry. . I think it is an excellent smartwatch as well as a running watch.

How about the design?
Akuzawa:I think it is rugged and cool. The size is a bit large but looks sleek, and it has a lot of features as a smartwatch, so I think it would be suitable for business people who enjoy running.

Many people start running, but many of them stop halfway through. What do you do to keep running?
Akuzawa:Recently, I've been running while listening to a novel on audiobook, and it's great. . When I'm running, I basically don't have time to do anything. But when I run while listening to an audiobook, I never get bored. I can immerse myself in the story, so I don't have a hard time during long runs, and I can't help but increase the distance because I'm curious about the rest of the story. The other day I was listening to Naoki Matayoshi's novel "Theatre" during a marathon race, and I was so moved by the story around the 30 km mark that I sobbed while running from there on (laughs).
Another reason I have been able to continue running is the existence of an app called "Strava," which is linked to my Suunto watch.

Akuzawa: Being able to keep a log of my runs, look back on them later, and share running data with my friends has made running even more enjoyable. The Suunto watch and Strava have been a great motivation for me to continue running.
