The best of old and new. A popular stylist talks about and wears the latest Converse models.
Old meets New.

A good combination of old and new.
Popular stylists talk about and wear the latest Converse models.

Everyone has worn a pair of "Converse" sneakers at least once. While they have firmly established themselves as a standard, they have actually improved with each passing season by adding new details. We asked stylists Yuta Kaji, Arata Kobayashi, and Toshi Katagai to try on the latest three models, which look classic but are also easy to wear.

CASE 03_SHUN KATAKAI ×
SKIDGRIP US

It always stays the same. But that's what I like about it.

. Please tell us about your history of "Converse" so far.

When I was in the eighth grade, I bought a pair of green high-cut "All Stars" made in the USA. I didn't know much about the details, but I remember that I chose them because I thought "Made in the USA" was cool. After that, I bought slip-on "Jack Purcell" and white "Skid Grip" shoes, which I still have today.

What is it about "Converse" that appeals to you?

I think they are easy to match with any clothes. I myself don't like sneakers that make a statement. They have just the right amount of coziness. That's the charm of "Converse!

What is your impression of the new "Skid Grip" from your own eyes? . The upper is washed out, shiny rubber is used, and there are updates everywhere.

In a good way, I don't change (laughs). I think it is good that it always stays the same. But the color is beautiful, isn't it? I think I would tend to choose a darker green for ease of matching, but since the design is simple, a color as vivid as this would look better as a point of reference.

What kind of coordination do you recommend?

The shape is sharp and it's court style, so I think it's a good idea to take it in a street direction, given that people used to wear these to skateboard!

Green all over ,,
Aggressive one-tone coordination!

. to match the "skid grip" green, I went all green with a green jersey setup. It was the first time I did this, but it's pretty green... (laughs).

The skid grips.
It has been a long time since it was equipped with "U.S. ORIGINATOR" specs!

The "Skid Grip" is now available with "U.S. ORIGINATOR" specs. The upper is made of washed canvas, and the pair is finished with a classic look and feel. . Comes with round laces in the same color as the upper.

DETAILS

The washed canvas upper has a classic look.
In addition to the white flat cord, the atmosphere can be changed by putting through a replacement round cord of the same color as the upper.

All rubber materials such as turning tapes and toe guards are glossy.
. The vintage detailing is reproduced, with a sheen that increases with wear and rubbing.

The insole is printed with "U.S. ORIGINATOR," a series that pursues the vintage taste of the good old U.S. of A., the origin of Converse.

The heel label is also stamped "U.S. ORIGINATOR" , as is the insole.
