The important thing is to keep yearning.
. Please tell us why you chose the clothes you are wearing today from Deus.
I have always liked satin jackets and have looked at various sports brands, but they are all very short in length, probably because they are mainly for sports. . In fact, I have tried on many jackets at thrift stores and failed. Also, satin jackets made by recent brands are long and the sleeves are longer than the length of the jacket. . Among them, this jacket was the one that fit my golden ratio perfectly. The ribbing around the waist is exquisite, not too tight and not too loose.
I feel that you are very particular about your work. By the way, what is the reason why you are so attracted to satin jackets?
Probably the root of the clothes I originally like is American casual. . I want a stadium jacket, a MA-1, and a satin jacket at least once every few years. . But I had given up, thinking it would be impossible to find the ideal satin jacket, but there it is, and it's brand new (laughs).

Do you wear the same clothes today as you usually do when you skate?
It hasn't changed. I guess it was too much of a bad thing that it didn't change (laughs). I thought about choosing something I rarely wear for the shoot, but I thought it probably wouldn't suit me if I chose something I wouldn't wear. So, I decided to choose something that I would normally wear.

Deus" is a brand that crossovers various cultures such as skating, motorcycling, and surfing, while at the same time forming them into a single unique identity. Mr. Oshiba, you are active in many other fields besides skating, such as in bands and art, but what is the secret behind your ability to stay consistent?
Perhaps it's a matter of continuing to admire. And I still don't think I've become someone with an unshakable style. . So, if you keep admiring, you will go on consciously and unconsciously. . I'm always tempted, but I feel conflicted, like, "If I do this, it's not me," and so on. I think the moment when you want to change but feel like you can't change comes at a certain point. I may not be happy about not being able to change, but when people see that, they may think that I am not blurred.

I see. I see. I see that change is not necessarily a bad thing.
Yes . When I was in junior high school, I probably had a longing to be like him , too. . I think that's exactly what I did at first, imitating others. But at some point, you don't know who you are imitating anymore. When I decided to try something new, I thought it was okay if I thought, "Oh, well, he did that too. I don't think that doing something that no one else is doing is the same as doing something new! . It's the same with music and skating. Music and skating are the same, and when you get down to it, you can see again that I am still admired by people.
