02 Both front and back were charming.

What are your impressions of this work?
It was simply great. No matter how interesting a movie is, I tend to fall asleep right away (laughs). (Laughs.) I often have to watch a movie twice before I finally understand it. But I was able to concentrate on watching this movie. The opening scene in the car grabbed me.
Is this the scene where Tyler and his girlfriend are driving and the camera spins around 360 degrees?
That's right. I was overwhelmed by the sound pressure or the energy of the music, as well as the images. I saw the film at a preview screening, and it was still amazing. I think it would be even more powerful if I saw it in a theater. From there, I was drawn into the story.
What was your favorite part of the story?
I think people have many faces, not just the front and back. However, I feel that only certain comments on social networking sites are cut out and characterize people. If you are a human being, what you thought was good yesterday may not be so good anymore. The opposite is also true. I thought this film depicted various aspects of human beings. I like the words "for better or for worse," and this is exactly what I felt. Tyler makes mistakes, but I don't blame him for them. I could understand each of the characters. The backgrounds and feelings of the characters were well drawn, and I felt a tremendous power in the work.

Do you have any other favorite works in A24?
I also enjoyed "Uncut Diamonds" very much. My personal impression is that A24's films don't give easy-to-understand characterizations, but instead depict the characters carefully and patiently. That's why they have charm. WAVES" is just such a film.
I agree with you. That's why I think it's a film that people of all ages can relate to. It's not just a "it was a heavy story" kind of movie.
It really is. When I watched the film, I never felt that it was "dark" or "heavy" at all. In serious scenes, there is a tendency to lower the tone of the voice when speaking. Maybe it was because there was no such artificial darkness. The final scene, which has a redeeming quality, was also very moving.

Love is a Losing Game
Amy Winehouse.
The title is good because it says it all. Love is a losing game. There are no superfluous metaphors to hide the embarrassment, and it's great.
