It is more interesting to be a little esoteric than to have a styling that can be summed up in one word.
What kind of image do you have of GRAVIS from a stylist's point of view?
East:It's culture, after all. These shoes have been loved by rappers and graphic artists. What is interesting about today's pair is the mix of a tassel loafer upper and a rubber sole. I think it is a deep shoe that is worth digging into to see how you can match it with other shoes.

How do you feel when you actually try them on?
East:They are soft and insanely easy to wear. The design is sleek and urban, but it still has a definite Gravis feel to it.

Today's styling is again very typical of Azuma-san. Can you tell us the key points?
East:This is a styling with the 90's in mind. The anime-futuristic printed denim with a trendy genderless shirt is a nod to that era. A white cap adds a clean look.
Do you have anything you value in terms of originality when working as a stylist?
East:It's a sense of mixing. I want to cross items with different elements. As a result, I like a style that is cohesive as a whole but still makes a statement. Standard clothes are good, but if you put together a whole outfit with only those items, it tends to look like a costume play. Rather than styling that can be summed up in one word, such as "preppy" or "American traditional," I think it is more interesting to have something a little more esoteric. I think the fun of fashion is to think of unique ways to dress.

You seem to be quite young as a stylist. What are your plans for the future?
East:Since I am just starting out on my own, I want to build up more muscle as a stylist. I don't mind the playing field and want to try different mediums. Fashion magazines are a lot of fun, and working with celebrities and looks is different and interesting. I will throw myself into what is in front of me, one by one, and give it my all.
