How would working people play? B-side snapshot of Shibuya PARCO.
~October Edition~.

A menu that is not posted on the wall of a Machinuka restaurant may be delicious, a comedian may be better suited for radio than TV, or you may find a small corner of a person you have been reluctant to get close to. It is the things that do not usually appear on the surface that hide the true essence of a thing. It has been a year since Shibuya PARCO opened, but I am sure that there are still unknown possibilities lying dormant. The big turret is supported by many tenants, and by extension, by the people who work there. From this month, HOUYHNHNM's and GIRL HOUYHNHNM's will explore the charm of Shibuya PARCO through its "people"-the store staff. You will surely want to go and meet them ♡!

SIDE-A

Please tell us about your first encounter with NEXUS VII.

Bando:. I have loved street culture since I was in high school under the influence of my siblings and friends. My hometown is in Hokkaido, and when I went to Sapporo for a visit, I stopped by the select store "FIGURE SAPPORO" and was shocked when I came across "Nexus" there.

Immediately after graduating from high school, I went to Rizm, the store in Chiba where "Nexus" originated, and entered the world of apparel. I learned everything at the company, including sales, buying, production management, and even Photoshop (laughs). (Laughs). Now I manage the staff and stand in the store myself.

You are a genuine Nexus girl, aren't you? What items do you recommend for this season?

Bando:This sweatshirt pays homage to the "Musician Series," which is highly collectible on the vintage market.

Who painted it?

Bando:Each season we print a villain from a movie, and this time we chose a character from David Lynch's film "Blue Velvet". . We commissioned an artist who is a close friend of designer Konno to do the graphics.

I see that "villain" is very typical of you, Mr. Konno. Do you communicate with Mr. Konno on a regular basis?

Bando:In addition to clothes, I enjoy music, and I sometimes DJ at a bar where I know people, and Konno-san gives me records. He tells me, "You should listen to this.

. It's nice that you are like an older brother who shares the same interests. Since you also like vintage clothing, do you have any particular style that you like to wear in your daily life? For example, what era of clothing do you like to wear?

Bando:. I like domestic fashion from around the beginning of the 2000s. I try to pay attention to things like the balance between pants and shoes, and I target and buy items from that era at vintage clothing stores and online.

I see, have you been buying vintage clothes lately?

Bando:I bought an Old Dior shirt from the 90s and an Old Gap shirt at Belvergine on the same floor. When I don't seem to be getting any sales, I just wander in (laughs).

I heard that you have a lot of interaction with the staff on the third floor.

Bando:We get along well. I am 27 years old, and many of the managers on this floor are around that age. We go out for drinks, give each other gifts on our birthdays, and so on. Also, since this store is on the way to the restrooms, they would stop by when they took a break, and I started talking with them.

I see! So that's why Bando-san's name was mentioned in various places, like the boss of the third floor?

Bando:I don't think so...but I would like to be a cowboy eventually (laughs).

. Please tell us how you spend your time during breaks.

Bando:I buy a coffee at "Saturdays NYC" on the same floor , and have a spaghetti with the staff at the store there.

When we visited the restaurant for the interview, the manager, Mr. Watanabe (middle), and the barista, Ms. Iwai (left), welcomed us frankly.

Do you have any particular reason for coming?

Bando:I heard a rumor from a staff member at Berber that a classmate of mine was there, and I thought I'd give it a shot and say hello. From then on, we started talking about all sorts of things, including trivial matters and each other's stores.

The circle is expanding more and more.

Bando:Somehow, we now have a basketball team as well. The name is "Team Parco" , just like that. . We haven't played or practiced yet, though (laughs). . For now, we are making uniforms using Photoshop.

(Right) The aforementioned classmate is the assistant manager, Mr. Oguri, on the left in the photo.

Are you currently drinking the store's signature latte?

Bando:Yes, I think this is the only store in Shibuya Parco that has a barista, and all the staff on the 3rd floor come here to buy. I have been saying since the beginning that it would be a good idea to make coffee tickets to raise the name recognition towards customers, but they never do it (laughs).

You even give advice on management! I look forward to hearing more about what's going on on the 3rd floor!
