PROFILE
Born in Aichi Prefecture. After working for a number of brands, he became independent. He is currently a designer for "F/CE." In 2017, he opened the world's first concept store for the Danish outdoor brand "Nordisk" in Tokyo, and in 2019, he will open another store in Kyoto. He is also active as a bassist in the band "toe" formed in 2000, and his talents are being demonstrated in a wide range of fields.

I see that you are particularly fond of using this bag these days.
Yes, I do. I have always opted for a backpack for everyday use, but this bag is the one I have been using most often lately, both on and off the job. It can be carried in three different ways (shoulder, handle, or backpack) to suit my mood, and despite its small size, it has a surprisingly large capacity of 25 liters, making it ideal for short business trips of one night or two days.
It's surprising that it fits in more than it looks.
It is a highly convenient product with two front pockets and a belt for hooking outerwear. The fabric is Cordura nylon satin co-developed with INVISTA. We wanted a bag just like this, so we made it at F/CE.

What are some of the other features?
The main opening is wide, and everything can be unfolded like a suitcase. Inside, too, the compartments are separated by mesh, which makes it easy to keep things organized. I myself like to keep a change of clothes and work gear neatly stored inside the bag, so I like that as well. There's also an attachment belt on the back that can be attached to a carry case.
The other bags you brought with you are for different purposes?
I used to carry a navy backpack a lot and still do, depending on the occasion. When I go on tour with my band or go somewhere with my kids, I like to keep both hands free, so it is very convenient. On rainy days, I use a completely waterproof backpack. Both are designed so that the excess shoulder straps can be rolled up and put together so they don't hang around.
Every single bag in the "F.C.E." lineup has in common the idea of being close to people's lifestyles, doesn't it?
I don't just make bags; I make them while thinking about how I would like them to be better by continuing to use them myself. I think about how I felt when I used the bag on a trip, what would make it a better bag, and conversely, what I don't need. For example, there is a bag with a harness lining that is made of a material that prevents pilling when knitwear is worn. In this way, I incorporate ideas that come from my own experiences into my products.
I see that you have created a bag that is easy to use.
We have also designed the bags so that they can be crushed into small pieces when not in use and take up little space when stored. In this way, we want to create bags that match people's lives. Also, I can say that I am very particular about the fabrics and parts used in all of my bags. I personally like mil-spec parts, so I am always looking for parts from all over the world. What I find there is reflected in our products. I think this is one of the characteristics of [FCE] bags.

AS2OV's backpack with a detachable fanny pack is a surprisingly large size (25 liters). It is just the right size for someone like Yamane who wants to use it both on and off the job. As in the case of "F.C.E.," the material used is an original 3-layer waterproof and breathable material with a water pressure resistance of 2000 mm. Although the way of proposing is different, the design is simple and thoughtful about fabrics and usability, and should be useful for daily use.
