About two hours by car from Tokyo. We arrived at our first destination, the select store "pejite Masuko. Although there is another store in Aoyama, Tokyo, I wanted to visit the main store because it was a good opportunity," said Mr. Ikeda.

I can buy artist's vessels in Tokyo, but sometimes I miss out because I think it would be better to buy them another time. But when I come to Mashiko, I feel like I'm ready to buy now. Besides, it's nice to be able to take your time and think about it here.

In a tranquil space renovated from an Oyanishi rice warehouse built about 60 years ago, the owner has carefully selected items such as dishes and old furniture made by local artists mainly from Mashiko. Of particular interest to Mr. Ikeda were glasses from the Kimura Glass Shop, which had just been restocked. It seemed that the stock had just been replenished, so he was able to choose from a compact series of "Rocks," "Tumblers," and "Zombies" as much as he wanted.

The Yushima store is now by appointment only. And even if you want something, they sometimes say they don't have it in stock, but here they have it in abundance. I use a 10-ounce bottle of "Zombie" at home. It makes a delicious gin and tonic.

The cans can be used to hang screens for images, and luggage can also be hung by using carabiners.
After enjoying shopping, the next stop is "starnet," a five-minute drive from "pejite Mashiko.

starnet
Hiroshi Baba, who produces fashion brands and directs companies, opened this store in 1998. The shop transmits harmony between nature, the land, and modern living, and has many fans among locals, artists, and those from outside the prefecture. In addition to foodstuffs and tableware, organic meals can be enjoyed at the attached café.

In addition to tableware, "starnet" also carries a selection of food products and other items made by local producers. The place, which attracts many visitors from outside the prefecture, is also loved by the neighborhood.

The purpose of stopping here was to buy coffee beans for an evening coffee break. Well, after buying "starnet" original blend beans, I quickly drive the "GMLVAN C-01JSF" to Lake Chuzenji.
