It is interesting to see it as a designer brand.

TEPPEI: What kind of image do you have of Nanga?

TEPPEI: I was told by an acquaintance that it was a good outdoor brand. Actually, I am from Shiga Prefecture, the same prefecture as Nanga (laughs).

The "Aurora Stand Collar Down Jacket" that you are going to wear is the oldest series among our original down jackets, and has been updated repeatedly since 2002. Why did you choose a stand collar this time?

TEPPEI: I feel that a hood gives a somewhat strong outdoor essence, so I chose a stand collar because I thought it would be an easy item to use in my dressing style, including versatility. For example, when I wear a hoodie inside or consider the type of layers, the stand collar is good for a slightly more urban look. . As for the color, I thought this outdoorsy blue was fresh and nice.

Do you currently own any down items?

TEPPEI: I have a variety of fashion brand jackets , including leather jackets. . I travel mostly by car, and most of my shoots are in the studio. I rarely wear full-spec equipment on location, so I prefer to wear a jacket that may be over-spec rather than one that is fully functional, but I value the sense of wearing a jacket that reflects the background of the brand and the ideas that go into the product. I think that the urban way of dressing is to see whether or not it is a good idea to wear "Nanga" with my clothes.

. From your point of view, what do you think is the difference between down made by fashion brands and down made by outdoor brands?

TEPPEI: As a result, it's no different than landing on an item called a down jacket. However, the difference between the two is what makes it enjoyable to wear, and I don't think it's a matter of which is better or worse. I think it is good to understand this and wear it on the street. I think there is a certain chicness in being aware of that. The Aurora Stand Collar Down Jacket is packed with reasonable details, such as the quality of the down, its warmth, lightness, watertight zips, and fleece inside the pockets. There is nothing inconvenient about wearing this in the city.

The outdoors and the city. . Although the scenes are different, the purpose of each is the same, isn't it?

TEPPEI: . it's not just down, it's the same with watches and cars. There are plenty of things that are over-spec! I think men in particular tend to feel a sense of chic in such things. When they see a car with full specs, they ask, "Are you going to the mountains? Are you going to the beach? It's cold to say, "Are you going to the mountains? (Laughs). They don't buy cars for their functionality alone, but because they are attracted by the overwhelming strength and depth of the product, and I think the same is true of the "Aurora Stand Collar Down Jacket.

Do you have a traditional way of choosing things to wear?

TEPPEI: I consider myself to be of the generation that started mixing styles in the 2000s, when I was in my 20s. I think I probably didn't have any sense of what was going on from the perspective of my seniors. However, when I started working as a stylist, I gradually began to understand what was only sensible at the time, such as, "What process did this outfit go through? What is the styling? What is the subject? I began to think, "What is the process of this dress? That is what I consider styling, so perhaps this way of looking at things is a natural progression.

. I think most people can only come up with what they are told is the correct way to dress. How can we go one step further, like TEPPEI, and not just follow the theory?

TEPPEI: Of course, it doesn't mean that you can't dress according to the theory, and it may be the right thing to do in general. It should be a good thing for a brand to have a new option in such cases. As for my character, the first step is to understand that it is a standard. Since I am inevitably an innocent character, I have to respect the product and play with it without wearing it in a negative way. I want to keep that in mind.

For example, how would you describe today's outfit?

TEPPEI: I wanted to give it a bit of a punkish flavor, so I wore it with a base of British punk check pants and Bourne sweatshirts so that the blue down would show. . I think it is precisely in situations like this that it is interesting to combine with classic items.

What do you think of it when you actually try it on?

TEPPEI: The size and silhouette are just right. And it is very lightweight! You can't see the downpacking on the front, so it doesn't feel earthy at all, which is another big point that makes it addictive as street wear.

. Whether you already have one or are just getting to know it, I'm sure you're wondering how you can expand the range of ways you can wear it. Punkish is an interesting keyword because it defies expectations in a good way.

TEPPEI: Standard items tend to get stuck in a rut. However, I think that for most people, the image of "this is how I should wear this brand" or the sense of deja vu that they have in their mind is the most important thing when they wear clothes. However, I thought it would be interesting to take that to a zero-based level and dare to consider it as a designer brand. I think it would be interesting to take it from an abstract image, such as "shiny textured blue down," and wear it with the background of the brand and my own image in place.

I felt the freshness of this blue color, which is unique to the outdoors, so I thought it would look completely different just by changing the pants and shoes I usually wear with it, and I also thought it would be possible to show the inner graphics by wearing it unzipped. Since I don't do outdoor activities, my approach is to mix the essence of the outdoors with the brand's crown and items.
