Banana Watches and five styles that question the state of the modern wristwatch.

Tissot has created a variety of timepieces that have led the times, from dress watches to divers' watches and even tactile watches with touch-sensors. One of the most representative models is the "Tissot Heritage Banana," or "Banana Watch. More than 100 years have passed since its birth, but the catchy name and the curved, rectangular shape are still the same. It has been loved as the face of the brand for many years. For this issue, we asked the press from five select stores to talk about the appeal of this watch and show us how they coordinate their watches. What is the demand for analog watches amid the evolution of smartphones? We also asked them to think about the modern wristwatch, using the "banana watch" as a starting point.

Ms. Nakayama wears a jacket by Brooks Brothers and Urban Research, a knit by Freeman's Sporting Club, pants by NEAT, a cap by New Era and Freeman's Sporting Club, and shoes by Gucci. Banana Watch" with blue dial and blue leather strap.

Urban Research" offers high quality fashion for people of all ages. Press Manager Keito Nakayama, who handles PR for all these brands, loves old cars, watches, and other items, and says that he takes good care of each and every one of these tools, maintaining them as well as their design. On weekends, he takes his car for a drive, and recently, "I've become interested in interior design, including furniture. We look forward to seeing his style, which combines masculinity and elegance, as only Mr. Nakayama, who cherishes his things, can.

I saw on your Instagram page that you usually wear an analog wristwatch.

Nakayama: Yes, I do. I like old watches, and all I own are hand-wound watches. I frequently use three of them, but I use them differently depending on my coordination.

. I was impressed by the leather belts in all the photos.

Nakayama: I like leather belts. . I used to wear a leather belt because I often wore a suit and it was easy to match. Now I mostly dress casually, but I like the combination of an old watch and a leather belt because it keeps my style from becoming too rough. Another reason I like it is that the leather itself changes over time as it is used.

Why are you attracted to analog watches?

Nakayama: Digital and smart watches are very convenient, but the charm of analog watches is their inconvenience (laughs). (Laughs.) By maintaining it, you can use it for a long time, and I get more attached to things that require a lot of work than cutting-edge things. I also like old cars, so I simply like to spend time with a single object.

Tissot is another brand with a long history. The "Banana Watch" was created in 1916 and has been loved by many people over the years.

Nakayama: Yes, that's right. Of course, I knew that the brand has a long history, and that's what attracted me to it. I feel at home when I wear a classic watch like this with a casual outfit, as I do now. It is one of my favorite styles.

Nakayama: Yes, I agree. I think it is very effective as a point of tightening up, not to be too casual.

What do you think about the design of the Banana Watch?

Nakayama: Square type watches fit very well, don't they? . so they are very easy to match. The case may look big, but when you put it on, it doesn't get caught on the cuff of your clothes, and it feels like it fits on your arm, so it actually feels very compact.

Mr. Nakayama, many people nowadays check the time on their smartphones, but what is the reason why you wear a wristwatch?

Nakayama: I consider watches to be part of a man's taste and accessories, and I feel that these elements will not disappear in the future. When I wake up in the morning, my outfit for the day is decided by choosing a watch that matches my clothes, so it is an indispensable item for me. Also, I think watches have a certain longing, or perhaps a part of it.

What did you keep in mind when coordinating this time?

Nakayama: I thought the "banana watch" was an item that could be worn with a variety of outfits. Recently, I like to wear a cap and a jacket, so I was able to dress as I usually do. When I dress this way, I am careful not to look childish, and I try to keep a casual yet elegant look in mind. In that sense, I think the watch played a role.
