SIDE-B Chatted with a senior who is at BAIT next door.

. On the right is Mr. Tayama, a BAIT staff member who is good friends with Mr. Fukushima.
Are you two of the same generation?
Fukushima:We are about 5 years apart in age. I am 22 and you are 27, right?
Tayama:Yes, I know. I feel old.... I like fried food very much, but lately my stomach has been so upset. The day I eat McDonald's for dinner, it's the worst, like Gracoro. It's good, though. Fukushima-kun, you don't have stomach problems yet, do you?
Fukushima:No, not yet. And I don't eat mac and cheese very often (laughs).
What do the two of you often talk about?
Tayama:I guess I talk a lot about politics... (laughs). (Laughs.) I'm only half joking when I say, "Are you selling well? (laugh). We talk about each other's stores. We also smoke in the smoking area. That is our real daily life.

Tayama:What are you doing at home these days?
Fukushima:. we have a new song coming out in December.
Are you a musician?
Fukushima:Yes, we are a unit of rappers under the name "Jerry" . My friend and I just formed it three months ago.

What made you decide that you wanted to become a rapper?
Fukushima:I became interested in music when I was in junior high school, and at that time I started listening to Lil Wayne overseas and KOHH in Japan. I was curious to see if I could do it, and I started writing songs.
After joining my current company, I had more opportunities to come into contact with people who were serious about music, and I began to think that I wanted to take it seriously, and here I am.
Rather than starting out because I admired famous people, I was more influenced by people who were close to me.
What drives you to create music?
Fukushima:There are many, but the best is probably the people around me who support me. I also write and record songs according to my feelings and vibes at the time. I always try to write down my thoughts and ideas.
Our first EP is coming out this month, and many of the songs on it were written with the feeling of being at the starting line.
. I see that your work is rooted in everyday life. I am looking forward to seeing the finished product!

What is your favorite style of fashion?
Fukushima:My work clothes are usually large, but on my days off I wear tight pants. It's good to have a change of pace. When I was shopping at "Nubian" the other day, I was talking with the staff, and I realized that I want to wear things that can be worn not only for one season, but for several years. The value of such items does not decrease.
When did you wake up?
Fukushima:I have been buying my own clothes since I was in the sixth grade. My older brother bought and wore Tommy Hilfiger with his New Year's gift, and I saw him wearing it and thought it was cute... (laughs). (Laughs.) That was when I became interested in clothes and started looking into them. I don't have any particular idols, but I try to check out clothes of brands I like.
. You were exposed to music and fashion from an early age, weren't you? I thought your hair style was also very impressive. I would like to hear about your history.
Fukushima:I had dreads right after I graduated from high school. After that, I went to very short dreads , or got bored and tried straightening it. When I listen to music by male rappers with long, silky hair, I sometimes try to grow it to about the length of a girl. . There was also a time when I had a spiral perm. Now I'm back to dreads after all. . looking back, I may have never had normal hair.
You've been through a lot, haven't you? It's interesting!

Last year was a difficult year with the worldwide coronavirus epidemic, but looking back on it, how did it go for you personally?
Fukushima:I often hear people say that they were not able to do anything at Corona, but I had more time to think about music, and I had some great encounters, so it was a fulfilling year. I would like to continue to do my best in music this year. I don't have any big goals, but in the end I would like to give back to the people around me. I have not done this alone, and I want to grow as an artist to the point where I can convey that to others.
