The record will beckon to you.

We had planned to spend 30 minutes, but we finished shopping in 10 minutes. The manager and I had a lot of fun during the process. There was one record that was very expensive (laughs).
MURO:After you've been digging for a long time, the records you're looking for will start calling you. It's like, 'Go to that record store.
So, today was that kind of day for you? Being called to record?
MURO:Yesterday, I bought a 12" reissue of a 12" by an artist named Glenn Riccs. I had never even seen the label, but it was so good. I wondered how many of them they had released, and I thought I would never find the original version, so I went and listened to it again before I went to bed yesterday. Then, the manager handed me three of the original 7" vinyls that had just arrived yesterday. I was so surprised.

I didn't know there was such a coincidence!
MURO:This is exactly what happened during the filming! This is exactly what happened during the filming (laughs). (Laughs.) It's strange, but this kind of thing rarely happens. It's like a record beckoning you.
It's really King Of Diggin' (laughs). How about the other two albums?
MURO:Christopher Ellis and Richie Phoe are two new reggae records. There are very few stores that stock current reggae, so I often go to "Coco Isle" or "Dub Store Records" in Shinjuku, where they stock it.
Do you buy a lot of reggae records these days?
MURO:I buy a lot of things rapidly from about this time of year. Maybe it is a seasonal thing, but my ears start to crave it. Somewhere in my head, I have a feeling that I have to make a selection, and it has become a habit for me to start listening to summer-oriented music in the early spring.
I think I caught a glimpse of the unique habit of Mr. MURO, who lives with records, to anticipate the four seasons. It seems that communication with the store staff is also important.
MURO:But sometimes the clerk will say, "You don't know this, do you?" (laughs). Especially in Osaka in the 1990s, there were many times when I lost (laughs). (Laughs.) When I ask them, they explain in detail, and they are happy to hear from me. Digging is a repetition of that.
