How to enjoy Nozawa Onsen. For a handsome case of HOUYHNHNM's Ski Club.

HOUYHNHNM Ski Club♡ resumed its activities after a long absence! This time we visited Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort in Nagano Prefecture. It is known for its big slopes, one of the largest in Japan, and abundant snowfall, but that is not the only attraction of this place. HOUYHNHNM's, a frequent visitor to Nozawa Onsen for the past several years, will introduce you to the many ways to enjoy Nozawa Onsen, from his perspective as a skier in the winter and a trail runner in the summer.

Superb snow quality. Enjoy the soft powder snow!

After getting off the gondola lift, change to a lift and head for the Yamabiko slope in the summit area.

Arrive at the summit of Mt. Kenashi, the highest point of the Nozawa Onsen ski resort. The elevation is 1,650 meters. This altitude is one of the reasons for the quality of the snow at this ski resort.

The area near the summit was also extremely sunny! Behind us were the majestic snow-capped mountains of northern Shinshu! We were gawking at the spectacular view for a while, but it was time to start skiing.

Frankie is drawing a spool as he pleases. He has been skiing for a long time, and his form is beautiful without any blurring.

HOUYHNHNM's Yamamoto said that it had been about a year since he had skied, but he showed a sense of stability that showed no signs of blanks.

Writer Enomoto also hadn't skied in about a year. However, his body has mysteriously picked up on the memory of skiing, and he glides down the slopes with a good feeling.

As for the quality of the snow, it was in super good condition, fluffier than I had imagined! I had heard that there was more snow than usual this year, but I had not expected to enjoy such excellent powder snow after a long time of skiing. I was able to experience to my heart's content the true joy of Nozawa Onsen ski resort, which is known as one of the heaviest snowfall areas in Honshu. There is a wide variety of courses, so you will never get bored even if you ski all the time.

Freshly baked and hot. The specialty lunch is delicious and impressive!

I was so immersed in skiing that I lost track of time due to the wonderful quality of the snow, but before I knew it, I was getting hungry. It's time to have lunch.

At any rate, let's start with a beer. It's a great drink after a long day of physical exertion.

For lunch, I chose "Nozawana Garlic Steak Rice" (1,500 yen), a specialty of Rest House Yamabiko.

On a bed of rice mixed with local specialty Nozawana, a beef steak cooked on a griddle in front of you is boldly placed and sprinkled with garlic chips. This is ridiculously delicious! Frankie raved, "I didn't know you could eat such delicious food at a ski resort! Frankie exclaimed, "I didn't know you could have such a delicious meal at a ski resort!
