Yamamoto:Mud suggested "TASF" to us, saying, "If that's what you want to do, then we'll do it. Fishing has been our life's work, and I thought, "We can definitely create something interesting," so I made the proposal.
Ando:The brand name "TASF" stands for "Tool Assisted Super Fishing," which, as the name implies, means "tools that support great fishing. TASF stands for "Tools Assist Super Fishing".
Old house:TASF started out with one item from "The Mongolian Chop," didn't it? I have a coach jacket from that time.
Yamamoto:I'm glad to hear that, thank you. When I first started making items with a fishing motif for The Mongolian Chops, I put the keyword "tasf" on the graphics. I think it was in the fall/winter of 2018.
Ando:At that time, bass fishing was not popular at all, and The Mongolian Chops was less well known than it is today. At first, TASF didn't sell at all, and we were like, "What are we going to do?
The backpacks come with a pithy "Bass Nude" graphic, a popular TASF graphic.
Yamamoto:That's right. I didn't know what to do for a long period of time, but the "bath nude" graphic was a great opportunity to get people to know about my brand.
Old house:It's a masterful design with a female body and a fish body side by side!
Yamamoto:He knew that. After releasing the "Bus Nude" T-shirt, I knew what direction we should take.
Ando:At first, TASF's output was geared toward the outdoors, but from here, we decided to start producing street-style products with a focus on fishing.
Yamamoto:Fishing apparel produced by the fishing industry and fishing wear produced by fashion brands may seem to be the same thing, but they are two completely different things. We think it is the latter. We wanted to create something that is more natural and exciting to carry. We wanted this collaborative bag to make people think, "I'll be able to catch fish if I carry this.
Old house:. That's why the design was based on something you could carry with you on a daily basis.
Ando:Both the backpack and shoulder bag are basic in design. We have incorporated details that we think are useful for fishing into them.
Yamamoto:Since I was in elementary school, our fishing style was like going to a casual "land-based" fishing pond. I thought that our lightweight style of fishing was street style.
Ando:I think it shows in the design. But the word "land-based" is lame.
Yamamoto:. I think this is one of the reasons why the fishing population is not increasing. That is why I want to popularize the term "street angler. Basser" means "a person who fishes for black bass," and I think that by replacing the word "basser" with "street," bass fishing will become more familiar to people.
Old house:. It would be great if we could help increase the fishing population through this collaborative bag.
Yamamoto:Let's go fishing together again. Once you get hooked on fishing, all you can think about is fishing every day.
Ando:I really do. At first, I fished just to take a break from work, but now I visit Lake Biwa several times a year, and I go to the Yodo River once a week without fail. I like fishing so much that I even made my own original worm. I want to test them in the field.
Old house:When you took me once before, you prepared everything for me and I felt like I was "allowed" to fish. I may be intruding on your time, but I would like you to take me there again. The Mongolian Chops" is based in Osaka, just like us, and the two designers are very unique. It was really fun to collaborate with two people who have so much charm, both in terms of their brand and their personalities.
Ando:We are both from the Kansai region, so I guess we share the same sense of what is "interesting.
Yamamoto:Moreover, Mud and I spend a lot of private time together.
Old house:One of the themes of Masterpiece's craftsmanship is "global niche," and we want to offer something that has yet to be discovered and taken for granted. I believe that this collaboration is a perfect fit for such a theme, and that it goes beyond the name of the brand to connect with us in a very emotional way.
