STANCE and unravel the indomitable style of these young expressive artists.

The sock brand "STANCE" was born in California, U.S.A. in 2010. The brand offers fashionable socks based on West Coast culture, such as art and skateboarding. Their message is "conventional is boring. We asked five young fashionistas who embody this slogan to try on a pair of "STANCE" socks to find out more about who they are and what they are all about. What is their stance, which is to continue to walk on the rails they have laid out for themselves, outside of the norm?

What got you started in BMX?

Since I was little, my father took me to the beach and parks, and I surfed and skateboarded. Then I saw someone doing tricks on a bicycle near the beach, and when I talked to him, I learned about BMX. My dad bought me a bike and I was hooked.

BMX is the most popular type of bicycle in the world today. What do you think is the unique appeal of BMX?

Basically, the ability to go far on a bicycle is something that skateboards don't have, and being able to do tricks and play from the moment you leave home is what makes it different from a regular bicycle.

You also create art alongside BMX.

That's right. I have been drawing bunnies and stuff like that since I was little. Then I started oil painting within the past year or so.

It's a unique style that you don't see anywhere else.

Basically, I draw whatever I want, but I try not to share the same shape as anyone else. This is the same with BMX. I don't really decide on a concept at the beginning, but rather combine what I think is cool and form it into a shape.

Do you see a connection between art and BMX?

The part of expressing is similar. It is the same for me, just that it is a picture or a bicycle.

Today, I asked the skaters and BMX riders to wear the "Stance" socks, which are also popular among them.

I had never worn them before, but I knew they existed because all the skaters I knew were wearing them. I actually like the feeling of wearing them because they are easy to move around in. Also, the design and color are simple, and I can match them with anything.

What is the point of today's coordination?

I ride a bicycle, so I always wear something that is easy to move around in. I always dress like this.

What are your future plans?

As a BMX rider, my dream was to produce my own signature parts, but that has already come true. Next, I want to make money from painting. In the future, I hope to be able to live a richer life with just bicycles and paintings.
