How often do you wear "New Balance" shoes?
Kurino: In recent years, I have been wearing sneakers almost every day, but recently I have been wearing leather shoes more often than at one time because I also want to wear suits or similar outfits again. However, I wear leather shoes only a couple of days a month . So, by the time I get to the end of the day, sneakers are by far the most common. To begin with, most of the sneakers I have on hand are New Balance, so I wear them quite often.
Do you see a particularly high percentage of gray?
Kurino: . it's higher as a result. . They are easy to match. For example, I bought a pair of very loud checked pants this year, and the gray color of "New Balance" goes well with them. As I mentioned earlier, the item itself is anonymous, so it quietly goes along with an outfit like today's, and it also serves to calm down colorful clothes. So you can rely on them.
You also brought your personal belongings with you today.
Kurino: The 992 was my first gray New Balance. Until then, I had black, burgundy, and green New Balance shoes, and everyone says "New Balance is gray," but for some reason I never owned a pair. I bought them in 2006, I think. When they were released as a 100th anniversary model.
What did you think when you wore the gray color for the first time?
Kurino: I thought, "After all that everyone has said, it's easy to match (laughs). (Laughs) . I realized once again that I am an innocent person. As for my own particular taste, I also change the laces. There are times when I am not satisfied with the laces that came with the shoes when I bought them, and when that happens, I change the ones that suit my taste.
. On the other hand, this is "1700.
Kurino: . I like the shape of the "1700". But I already have several pairs of gray "New Balance" shoes, and I think they were "2002" before I bought these. . I liked them so much that I wore them a lot. So I didn't think I needed to buy a new pair, but one day, when I visited a New Balance exhibition, I saw a staff member wearing a pair of gray slacks with a pair of 1700s, and I thought, "Oh, this could be good. I thought, "Oh, this could be good," so I bought them right away (laughs).
Next, is this the "990v5"?
Kurino: Yes, it is. This is a special order item from "United Arrows" with a charcoal gray upper. Actually, I had missed out on buying these. . But there happened to be a cancellation in my size, and I was able to get them. I usually wear a "9" or "9H" size, but this one fits me so well that a "9H" is about right. . So, if I had only been looking for a "9" at that time, I would not have been able to get them. The laces come in white, gray, and black, and I change them according to my mood or style. NB has a lot of eyelets, so when I don't have time to change them in the morning, I'm almost late (laughs).
And now you are wearing the 990v4.
Kurino: It's a very beautiful gray. They go well with outfits like today. But I don't wear them very often because I don't want to get them dirty. I wear them on days when it never rains and when I don't go to crowded places (laughs).
