PROFILE
Born in 1983, he started his career as a fashion stylist in 2004. In 2020, he produced the book "#Dayssnap # Dayssnap", which became a topic of conversation when the total number of entries reached the limit in just a few dozen seconds.
Wear them with intention.
I see you changed the shoelace to red.
TEPPEI:Yes, when I was given the theme of "Wild Rider Vintage" in gray, I thought about how to wear them with an intention, as my character is not one who would look good wearing them as they are. I thought it would be interesting to add red to the color scheme. I happened to have a pair of fat laces with red laces at home, so I changed the shoelaces and matched them with the red of the socks.

The red color on the feet is a nice touch.
TEPPEI:Match the top and bottom in the same color as the gray of the sneakers and add red. The key to this coordination is color matching. If it were a volume shoe with a bit more hyper smell, it would have a rather déjà vu feel, but the upper part of the shoe conveys a classic atmosphere in contrast to the sole part as the individuality of this shoe alone. I felt a freshness to it, and I thought I could enjoy that part as well.
Do you usually change your laces often?
TEPPEI:No, we do not change them at random, but only when we want to change them with intention.
What do you mean by "change with intention"?
TEPPEI:By "with intention," I mean thinking about the work site, the people I meet, and the places I go. For example, in terms of footwear, my occupation requires me to put on and take off my shoes frequently during work, so I tend to wear shoes that can be put on and taken off quickly and easily. So I avoid white soles and wear black soles more often. With these choices as the basis of our daily lives, I believe that doing something different from the norm, such as meeting someone different from the norm, or having a different attitude because of it, is what is meant by "having an intention.

TEPPEI:If I don't have a clear intention of choosing shoes, I choose shoes with a neutral black base color, so when I wear sneakers in a non-black shade, as in this case, or leather shoes instead of sneakers in the first place, I have a big intention of making a choice. When I wear leather shoes, a great deal of intention arises in my choices. I think that everyone wears jackets in situations, and I think it is similar to that kind of positioning. So, I have a feeling and some reasoning for the day, and I try to choose the appropriate footwear for that day.

We got a glimpse of what TEPPEI thinks about when styling. Is there anything else you keep in mind when choosing things?
TEPPEI:There is a part of you that feels familiar and mental. When I wore PUMA sneakers when styling a job for a brand, I received praise from the creative team. The PUMA brand has a universality, and I think the value of choosing PUMA sneakers lies in the fact that they are precise and do not fall into simple utility. I think there is a solid backbone, including the cultural aspect, in the fact that people don't just wear Puma sneakers because they are comfortable. I also saw a slogan in the past that said, "We don't need the run-of-the-mill standard," and I feel that the value of PUMA's existence lies in the fact that they are pushing this mentality, and I myself wear them on a daily basis.

Lastly, do you have any advice for Finham readers on how to enjoy "Wild Rider Vintage"?
TEPPEI:It might be a little more difficult. Nowadays, the story is completed by wearing the sneakers. If the sneakers are on sale at this moment, you buy them, put them on, and that's it. Most people don't ask about the consistency between the sneakers and the coordination, and just end up thinking about their usual styling and what the shoes are. To add more depth to the day's styling, I think it is important to be aware of why you are wearing the shoes and how you are coordinating them, in addition to the uplifting effect they have on your mood. Originally, in our generation, everyone has this kind of philosophy, but I feel this trend is particularly strong among the younger generation, so I hope they will wear them with intention.
