Takahashi Lamda's Delivery Styling for HOUYHNHNM's. Vol.3 Sand Suede Shoes Part 1

Once clothing lovers of any age get together, there is no end to the conversation about great products and styles. While such opportunities have become rare in our daily lives due to the national emergency and voluntary restraint from going out, two old acquaintances of Ms. Lambda visited us for this edition of HOUYHNHNM's Delista. Mr. Takayuki Fujii, designer of "Non-Native," and Mr. Hiroshi Doidi, communications director of "BEAMS" and representative of the new company "BEAT. They are now both alumni of the same generation who stood on the store floor at the same time, even though they have each established their own distinct positions and accomplishments. The theme of this, their second big talk, was a very biased one: "sand suede shoes. This time, we will deliver the true expressions of the experts, their passion that still hasn't cooled down even after they became adults, and the situation of their favorite items!

Doidi:It's a collaboration between [Non-Native] and [Vans]. I wanted to wear them hard and add some flavor. I liked the center zip and the length of the fur.

Fujii:You can actually see it if you take a closer look, but the outsole seems to be very inward, doesn't it? Lambda also likes old "Vans," and I think he has a lot of them, but they look like this, don't they?

Lambda:It's true! Those are shrink-wrapped, right?

Fujii:Yes. The rubber. But modern ones don't shrink like that. If the size of the shoe is US11, I put a 10 outsole on it.

Lambda:You are a maniac! (LOL)

Doidi:I was surprised when I heard that too (laughs). I thought it might be about the impact of the materials or the laces, but Takayuki was the first to mention it to me.

Lambda:You can certainly tell by looking at the heel.

Fujii:I like old shoes, but I was wondering how I could get close to them. I'm also trying to make this place (foxing tape) look raw.

Doidi:This also works year-round.

Lambda:What kind of suede is this? It's got really long fur, doesn't it?

Fujii:This is monkey suede. The fibers are rough, so they tend to be a bit crumpled. These also have elastic on the inside, so they can be worn with the zip open, or even with this part removed.

Lambda:That's amazing. Fujii has a deep knowledge of shoes, doesn't he?

Fujii:I'm a designer (laughs).

Lambda:I see. That's how you make your living (laughs).

Fujii:But Shibasaki-kun's is also something I would never have thought of, and I think he does some interesting things.

Doidi:Aren't the Japanese the only ones? Facing one foot like this, adding and subtracting.

Lambda:But you're being sincere. Oh, next time, you inserted a little foreign object.
