I heard that you have always loved fashion.
Wakita:That's right. When I was in junior high school, I even thought about becoming a stylist. From there, my interest was also derived from music and books.
What criteria do you currently use to select your clothing?
Wakita:Since I am independent and spend more time at home, I tend to wear clothes that are comfortable to wear these days. Things that are easy to wash and comfortable to wear on a daily basis. On the other hand, I also buy clothes that are hard to wash and that I have to choose where to wear them.
How do you switch on and off at work?
Wakita:I often switch with clothes. I switch from a t-shirt for home wear to a top that isn't. If I have to switch it up, I put on makeup. If I put on mascara, I can't take a nap, can I?
I see (laughs). How do you feel about the MUJI clothes you wore today?
Wakita:It was soft and comfortable. It was like wearing a comforter-like security. So I think it will be useful in the coming seasons.
Do you go to MUJI on a regular basis?
Wakita:Often. I buy clothes, and I also buy things that are not clothes. Also, as I mentioned earlier, I like the fact that the designs of the items themselves are not spiky or cold.
MUJI is always close to its users.
Q. From your perspective as a designer, how do you see MUJI's products?
Wakita:First of all, I am impressed that this is what you can get for this price. It's not cheap, but it's classy. In terms of branding, they have been consistent for a long time, and that is also great.
Q. Is there any MUJI product that you particularly like?
Wakita:Is it a square file box with round holes? It may not look like much, but you won't find anything else like it, and I like the exquisite white-gray color. I like the exquisite white-gray color. I feel that the product is designed with real life scenes in mind.
I see that many people use it in various ways, such as for frying pans and detergents.
Wakita:There are many other similar products, but there are things like "I don't want this design" or "I want this protrusion to be removed. But MUJI's general merchandise and clothes have none of that. Talking about this makes me want to stop by on my way home.
