It's better to make the most of what no one expected and roll with the interesting ones (ABEDON).
Let's talk about the album.
ABEDON:You don't have to do it anymore (laughs).
Okuda:I was successfully diverted from another article (laughs).
(laughs). I read in another article that the concept of this album is "rock 'n' roll. Was this the starting point when you had a remote meeting with the members and Tessie's hair looked like a regent after taking a bath? Is this a true story?
Okuda:That's really true. It is easier to proceed if there is a concept or some kind of binding.
ABEDON:There was a good regent there, he said.
Okuda:It doesn't matter what kind of bindings you use. As long as it is tied properly.
EBI:When the theme was decided to be rock and roll, I was troubled at first. I thought "rock 'n' roll" was huge.
Okuda:I didn't have a song written at the meeting (laughs).
EBI:That one in Minsheng was at the level of ideas.
Okuda:I put on Little Richard and said, this is the kind of song I want to play. I was wondering if this was the right thing to do... (laughs)
ABEDON:It's a no-no (laughs). But that's part of it, and it's better to make the most of such things that no one expected to happen, so that things can turn out interesting. If the start is wrong, the result is obviously wrong, too.

The members of Unicorn share the same philosophy of actively trying to be interesting, don't they?
Okuda:I'm old, I'm coming back, and we need to have something in common to cooperate.
EBI:It's interesting just to see everyone heading toward one thing or another.
Okuda:I think it is common in bands for two or so people to write a song, but in unicorns it is not uncommon for everyone to do it together, so if there are no strings attached, it would really fall apart.

I saw a video of you working on the album, and it looks like you were having a lot of fun and laughing.
ABEDON:I don't see the members except for recording and touring, and we don't have remote meetings at gunpoint. But when we do meet, we talk like a dam, so I'm pretty tired when I drive home (laughs). I don't want to drive home that tired (laughs).
The music industry and all other sectors have been hit hard by the Corona disaster. How do you see making this album at this time?
ABEDON:Since it is a time like this, I don't want to say anything difficult, and I hope the music will be easy to listen to with a cheerful taste. If rock 'n' roll, which has a long history, can really be seen as fun, then I think it was worthwhile for a band like ours to do it.
EBI:We enjoyed it and I hope the listeners did too.

Please tell us about the highlights of the Budokan Budokan, the final stop of the tour.
Okuda:It looks like the Budokan costumes will be a special color, different from the green and engineered ones as well. Also, Tessie was very particular about the length of the pants. She told the costume designer to make them shorter, and when she did, they shrank after a bit of washing, so she thought they were too short (laughs).
I guess the first thing to do is to pay attention to Tessie's length (laughs).
ABEDON:Now I just hope the special color is a nice color.
Okuda:EBI was very particular about color, wasn't it?
ABEDON:I had already lost interest when it wasn't pink, so I asked EBI to choose.
Okuda:I just watched from afar, unable to say a word (laughs).
