A change of pace, living in two locations.

I heard that you recently started living in two locations.
Matsunokawa:I have been working more and more in the Kansai area, including Osaka and Kyoto, and about a month ago I created a base, or a kind of place to stay, in the Kansai region. In Tokyo, I stay at hotels and Airbnb for long periods of time.
It's still early days, but how do you like living in two locations?
Matsunokawa:The atmosphere in Tokyo and Osaka is completely different, which is refreshing. I have a lot of friends in Tokyo, so it's fun, and I don't know many people in Osaka, so I enjoy my time there by myself. I go back and forth about half a month. I also like the time I spend on the road. I make good use of the 3 hours between Tokyo and Hyogo, watching movies and sleeping on the Shinkansen. By bus, it is 10 hours. I used to travel back and forth between Tokyo and Taiwan, so the travel is easier than then.

What kind of city did you live in when you were in Taiwan?
Matsunokawa:I lived in the Daan District of Taipei. It is a traditional, quiet town, but it is easily accessible, with many markets and eateries, as well as clubs, bars, and other places to hang out. In Tokyo, people in Koenji, Shinjuku, and Shibuya seem to be in separate circles, but in Daan, or Taipei, I felt like everyone was gathered in one place, which made me feel comfortable.
When was your last visit to Taiwan?
Matsunokawa:I was there from May to June this year for the filming of a movie. The shooting period was only two weeks, but there was a hotel waiting period of about two weeks each before and after.
I'm sure it's not too late for that. How was Taiwan with the Corona disaster?
Matsunokawa:Even when entering a convenience store, they had very strict measures in place, even to the point of having to state the time of entry and exit, name, and phone number. The infection spread rapidly during my stay, but Taiwan is advanced in IT technology, so I was surprised to see that a system for infection control using smartphones was completed in about three days.
