It's a bad year.

I heard that this year was a bad year for you?
Kano:Yes, it was the year I turned 33.
Are you all right? Did you suffer from any particular mishaps?
Kano:It's a weekly assault*, right? It's a bad year, that's what it is (laughs). But that's about it. I haven't had any major illnesses.
*Note: In September of this year, Shukan Josei PRIME (Weekly Women's PRIME) reported on the marriage in an in-depth interview.
Can I ask you about the period when you were scooped...?
Kano:After I got the scoop, we were already discussing it like demons. Sometimes we would talk for five or six hours, including the president. ...... hell ...... It was a week of hell. We even started discussing in the morning how we were going to talk on the radio, and people would say, "What's going on! I was told, "What's going on? We didn't plan properly, that's why this is happening! And I would say, "This is what happens when you don't plan properly! I realized that I had not been able to self-produce.

Self-production...... is required of comedians these days, isn't it?
Kano:Originally, you didn't have to think about that. Nowadays, only those who are good at self-production remain. In that respect, we are blessed to be able to work in a good balance. I have been busy this year, but I haven't had a big breakthrough on TV, and compared to successful comedians, it's not much. But personally, I was over capacity. I was doing writing work, story writing, the so-called creative side, and the performing side, and I was like, "I don't have enough time! I just don't have enough time! If I did any more TV work, I thought I would go crazy (laughs). (Laughs.) I was afraid of that, too. I have to make sure that I allocate my time properly, and I don't want to be in a position where I have to appear on TV all the time, no matter what it takes.
You wrote two essays every month in serials alone, and also published a novel. Are you a fast writer?
Kano:It's very slow. So, I look at the word count at the bottom of the screen and think, "I've only written this much, and this much only! I'm writing in a hurry (laughs). Writing essays, novels, and stories are difficult in their own ways.
It's a bit of a whirlwind when you add radio and TV to the mix. What do you want to focus on in the coming year?
Kano:Next year, I hope to be able to tour the whole country as a solo show. We would be satisfied in terms of material if we could hold our own major events four times a year, once for each season.
