PROFILE
International siblings born to Italian and Japanese parents , born and raised in Malaysia. Later, they moved to Canada and England for college, respectively, and returned to Japan in 2020. Currently, they run a restaurant in Daikanyama, Tokyo, calledBONTA ITALIA." is operated by the family.
I understand that you two have recently arrived in Japan.
Dario:Yes, that's right. Until then, I was in London and my younger brother Amir was at university in Canada, but in 2020, when the Corona craze began, we each graduated from university and returned to Japan.
. And you opened this restaurant, BONTA ITALIA.
Dario:Yes . I am the manager of the business, and Amir develops the recipes for the pinca. My mother makes Italian delicacies, which we also sell.
I know what pizza is, but I'm not familiar with pinca.
Dario:It looks similar to pizza, but while pizza dough is only made of wheat flour, pinca dough is made of rice or soy flour in addition to wheat flour. So it is healthier and lighter in texture than pizza.
Amir:They are popular in Italy. One person can eat one piece at all. By the way, the most popular is crudo with salsiccia or prosciutto ham.

What kind of Italian delicacies does your mother make?
Dario:My mother learned the authentic recipe from her grandmother in Italy, and I make it based on that recipe. . By the way, the tomato sauce is also homemade by my grandmother.
What do you mean?
Amir:In Italy, it is normal for each tomato sauce to have its own family flavor. So, the sauce used for our pinca is also a recreation of my grandmother's recipe.
By the way, where is your father now?
Dario:. in Kazakhstan , I am an economist.
. You are an international family.
Amir:I have lived in Malaysia, the Philippines, and many other countries for a long time, so it has become a matter of course for me (laughs). (Laughs.) Besides the two of us, I also have an older brother who lives in the Netherlands.
And the Nanamika store is just a few seconds' walk away.
Dario:We are almost there (laughs).
Have you ever been there?
Amir:Of course . You buy quite a bit, don't you?
Dario:Yes, I know. I was allowed to buy a hat the other day.

What are your impressions?
Dario:Simple and cool. And elegant. We usually dress comfortably, so it fits with that kind of atmosphere. I like this coat, too, because it looks like a British Gentleman.
Amir:Also, Japanese clothes have a lot of size problems. They are too short or too small . But with Nana Mika's clothes, every single piece is just the right size.
The coat you two are wearing is made of GORE-TEX ®︎ , so it is also waterproof.
Dario:. Since Japan has a rainy season, it is also good for such a time. If it rains a little, we don't use umbrellas.
Amir:They really don't use umbrellas, not even for a moment .
Dario:Also, I thought, it is easier to move than it looks.
. Yes, that's right. . The shoulder part is also carefully designed so that it is less stressful to raise and lower the shoulders.

Amir:I can't say it's for work, but it's good for everyday, or for a date.
Finally, I have a simple question: Do Italians eat that much pizza?
Dario:Yes, I really do eat all the time (laughs). Three times a week is not so much. I eat pasta and pizza all the time.

Conversely, do you eat delivery pizza from Japan?
Amir:. at all.
Dario:Indeed, I don't eat them at all . The dough is too fluffy, not very Italian , and a bit heavy. On the other hand, pinca is really light, and I would be happy if everyone could try it.
