IZIPIZI meets RELISH "ON"

ON/OFF to be switched by Ijpigi sunglasses.

The eyewear brand "IZIPIZI" boasts of its French design and rich color variations. The sunglasses are produced by "RELISH," a team that creates mural art for large-scale music festivals and events. In this first part of the series, we closely observe the six-hour-long production process. The relentless sunlight was taking away their physical strength, and they were wearing "Ijpigi" during the work, which made it impossible to lose focus even for a moment. I'm sorry to say that you are tired, but how was the comfort of wearing ......?

If efficiency and cost are priorities, printed posters and digital signage are honestly the way to go. However, they tell us that there is an attraction that cannot be expressed in numbers. It was a client who taught them this, they say.

Kurashima:With posters and digital technology, the work would not take several days or be affected by the weather. However, I think there is significance in going against the times and sticking to hand-drawing. I was happy to hear this from a client once.

Kurashima:At that time, I was asked to paint a slogan in the office hallway. The company used to announce the slogan at company-wide meetings or display it on posters, but it was common for no one to remember it. However, by expressing it as lettering art, the employees started to copy the slogan and share it on SNS, and they naturally started to remember the slogan. Moreover, when they visited the office, it often became an opportunity to talk with customers. We sometimes ask the president to draw the last brushstroke, or we draw with the employees, and it becomes a part of the experience. It is art, but it is not the end of the process. I believe that this process gives birth to a story in a slogan that had seemed inorganic to us.

After the base coat is applied, a draft of this visual is transferred. Checking from every angle, adjustments are made millimeter by millimeter.

They say that not only information, but also "flavor and interest" are added by the amount of passion and time spent on the handiwork. As they say, when you approach the wall surface, you can see the traces of brush strokes and dried paint that only hand-painting can bring out.

Kurashima:I am glad to hear you call it "taste. I think what we are doing is in the same context as craft beer and craft gin. By incorporating traditional methods, I think it adds depth. I hope that this can be conveyed in my paintings.

Once the draft is done, it is time to start the brushwork. The brush strokes are both careful and bold. The paint dries quickly, and the work is nearing completion.
