I heard that it has been a long time since your last visit to Japan , how many years ago was the last time you were here?
Jeff:I can't remember the exact number, but it was when I did an exhibit at "Playmountain" , so I think it was around 2013.
Have your impressions of Japan changed since then?
Jeff:Shibuya and Harajuku have changed a lot. Shibuya PARCO, in particular, has become much fancier than before. The reason I use Shibuya PARCO as an example is that it was at Shibuya PARCO that I did my first show in Japan.
. By the way, you just posted a monkey on your Instagram Stories (laughs).
Jeff:You saw me (laughs). Yes, I knew there were monkeys in Japan, but it was the first time I saw them, so I just had to.
Japanese monkeys go to hot springs in the winter.
Jeff:Really? That's Amazing (laughs).
Jeff, do you like Japan?
Jeff:I love Japan. i really wanted to come earlier, but with Corona, it was not easy.
What do you like about Japan?
Jeff:In terms of land, my favorite place to visit is Hokkaido . I had the pleasure of visiting Hokkaido on my last trip to Japan, and was impressed by the abundance of nature I saw there. It is vast, and there are many outdoor fields, farms, and ranches all over the place. I chose Lake Chuzenji in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, as the venue for this event partly because it is similar to the nature I saw in Hokkaido.
I see. Why at Lake Chuzenji? I thought so.
Jeff:. One reason, of course, is that this is a mecca for trout. Also, I live in Los Angeles, but I can get to Yosemite National Park within a few hours' drive. So I like the distance between Tokyo and Los Angeles, and between Nikko and Yosemite.
