Enjoy Fishing and Udon Noodles! HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB's Summer Camp in Shikoku, Japan. 〜Part 1

HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB has been using fishing as an opportunity to experience nature, expand friendships, and have many exciting experiences that cannot be experienced in everyday life. This time, we went fishing in Shikoku for three days and two nights! Our base of operations was in Kagawa Prefecture. . I will also introduce some of the udon restaurants we visited. How many fish can you catch and how many bowls of udon can you eat? Here is the first part of the training camp, which was thoroughly devoted to black bass and Sanuki udon. How about a trip like this with a group of like-minded people?

Even after noon, when fishing was difficult, we cast with gusto!

The next lake we headed to was also, as expected, low on water, and not even small fish were to be found to serve as bait. . Again, the river flow was low and the conditions were difficult. We decided to go back to the Kadoniri Dam in the morning, as we thought it would be better to fish there. After getting ready, we scattered again to search for a new point.

Ichikawa went to a very remote place , how is it going?

Ichikawa:Land-based fishing is all about picking the right point, so I went over to the other side. The biggest fish are said to have the best spots as their territory, so I enjoyed watching the situation while looking for places that were not occupied. Earlier, Mr. Kawamura was fishing on the surface, so I tried using a small topwater and caught a small bass. . Now I am casting a heavy worm a long way.

And Ikemoto was just throwing a worm that he said he wanted to fish with it.

Ikemoto:. I want to fish with a Daiwa Steeze Sterling Twin. Mr. Kawamura taught me how to move it and such, so I've managed to get it to ......!

As I was struggling with the signs of fish, Kawamura-san again ......!

Kawamura:I saw them swimming, so I threw a "Bottom Up" frog worm, a Scooper Frog, but they didn't respond and didn't want to eat. . But when I put a spinnerbait right in front of a bass, sometimes he eats it without thinking.

No, he really is a master of his craft. He showed me how to "spinnerbait sight" a visible bass with a spinnerbait, which is not something you can easily imitate. ...... After a while, he was fishing with a spinnerbait again!

47 cm , overwhelming! Komatsu and Ikemoto, who were watching from nearby and were stunned, were given advice on how to fish with a worm. Then, this is what happened!

We both caught two fish each!

Komatsu:I followed Mr. Kawamura's instructions on everything from where to land the lure to how to move it, and I really caught fish! To tell you the truth, I was feeling a little nervous, but when I caught a fish, I was happy!

Ikemoto:It was a small size, but thanks to Mr. Kawamura's precise instructions, I was able to catch it! It had been a while since I caught a black bass. At any rate, I was relieved to have caught it. . I will try using a different lure to increase the size.

In the meantime, the sun was setting and the first day was over. It was incredibly hot, and we were worried that the bass might not stay due to the drought, but we were relieved to catch a good number of fish. It was great to be able to fish again the next day! In search of bigger bass and tastier udon noodles, we will continue on to the second part of the tour on Day 2 and beyond.
