A quick flight to an altitude of over 1,800 meters above sea level!
The theme of this year's summer fun in Kotani Village is "mountain climbing". The day-trip mountaineering trip will start from Tsugaike Kogen Station at the foot of the mountain to Tsugaike Nature Park via gondola lift and ropeway, then to Hakuba Ooike Pond via Tenguhara and Norikuradake. Standard course time is 3 hours and 20 minutes for the trip there and 2 hours and 30 minutes for the return. The round trip takes about 6 hours and is about 8 km long.

First, take the gondola lift from Tsugaike Kogen Station to Tsuganomori Station. It is about 4 km long, with an elevation gain of 700 meters, and connects the two stations in about 20 minutes. From there, transfer to the ropeway for further elevation gain towards Tsugaike Nature Park. ......

The beautiful Hakuba mountain range came into view beyond my field of vision!

Magnificent mountains reflected in the blue sky. The tension rises at the spectacular view that is typical of the Northern Alps.
The ropeway ride takes about 5 minutes. You will arrive at Tsugaike Nature Park, the starting point of this climb.

The three members are shown here. From left, HOUYHNHNM's deputy editor, Hiroshi Yamamoto, writer Issey Enomoto, and HOUYHNHNM's editor, Hideki Shibayama. Enomoto, the most experienced climber of the three, loves the Hakuba area and has experience traversing the Ushirotateyama mountain range, including the Hakuba Sanzan (Mt. Hakuba, Mt. Shakushidake, and Mt. Hakuba Yari). Yamamoto and Shibayama are new to mountaineering in this mountain range, but they are physically fit and enjoy running and trail running on a daily basis.
Tsugaike Nature Park is one of Japan's most famous high-altitude wetlands, located at an altitude of 1,900 to 2,000 meters above sea level. The park has a 5.5-km walking trail that allows visitors to easily explore the park while enjoying the colorful alpine flora and spectacular views of the Hakuba Sanzan Mountains. The Hakuba Great Pond, which is the destination of this tour, is about 4 km away from here, and the path is a full-scale mountain trail. Leg strength and stamina are required, and mountain climbing equipment that can cope with changing weather conditions is essential.
