The trail is rich in variety, including snow-covered gullies and wooded trails.
Starting from the trailhead at Tsugaike Nature Park, we proceeded through a forested area for a while. Occasionally, we came to a place with a clear view and looked back to see a sea of clouds below.

This area is one of the heaviest snowfall areas in Japan, and there is abundant remaining snow even in the summer season. We visited in early August, but there were snow banks in places along the trail.

As the top of the snow ridge is slippery, we climbed carefully step by step.
About an hour and a half after starting from Tsugaike Nature Park, we arrived at Tengupara (天狗原).

Tengubara is a spacious wetland. The elevation is about 2,200 meters. The temperature is about 10°C lower than in the lower areas, and the air is so cool that it is hard to believe that it is midsummer.

Sit on a bench and take a short rest. We will drink water and eat food to restore our energy.
