07 Walter Van Beirendonck Walter Van Beirendonck

The first photo shows the beginning of the show with the veiled black object; the second shows the second half. The last cut is of Walter Van Beirendonck, who showed up for the finale.
PEACE & NO WAR
Walter Van Beirendonck put on an outlandish show at the historic Madeleine Theater. When the curtain rose, there was a black object wearing a veil. When the veil was lifted by a wire, the models walked down the runway, and the curtain fell once they had all appeared on stage. In the second half of the show, which began without a pause, the models came up from the audience aisle to the stage, and when they finished walking down the runway, they walked back and forth on the stage without going backstage. The answer to this mysterious staging was found in the press release distributed after the announcement. The word "WIRWAR" was written on the release. The theatrical direction of the show was also based on the image of a war zone. Designer Walter appeared at the finale wearing a message T-shirt with "PEACE" printed on the front and "NO WAR" on the back. I feel that the designer's greatness lies in the fact that he clearly communicated his message through the medium of fashion at the world-famous Paris Collection. Perhaps it is because he is irreplaceable that he has such an enthusiastic fan base.
