HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB visits Lake Kawaguchi, a famous bass fishing spot, for the first time!

Fuji, Lake Kawaguchi is a perfect place for a relaxing day trip, only about an hour and a half drive from central Tokyo. While there are plenty of tourist spots where you can enjoy a relaxing autumn outing, Lake Kawaguchi is also popular for bass fishing. And yet, we hadn't been there yet, so HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB set out! Fuji and the clear water of the lake. Fuji and the clear waters of the lake. Reaction was positive despite the harsh conditions!

We moved to a famous wand in Kawaguchi Lake, where it rained on and off. It is a perfect place for land fishing because it is less affected by wind and water temperature. Each angler moved from one point to another, changing their hands and products, concentrating on their fishing.

Ishii:It's how I can face myself. I'm starting to get into the spiritual world. Usually I get a bite early on, but I don't, so I'm changing different lures and trying to find the right one.

While everyone else is throwing spinnerbaits and small rubber jigs, Mr. Hara continues to throw topwaters. Are there any reactions from the bass?

Hara:I thought I saw a fish on the surface of the water and reacted, but it was another fisherman's lure (laughs). He was a guy who moved topwaters in a very realistic way. I haven't had any bites yet, but I've just finished warming up, so here we go.

While anglers around us were not catching any fish, the sound of a splash broke the silence on the surface of the water! The hit was Ichikawa.

But it got away just before ......

Ichikawa:It was close. A bass at the base of a standing tree took a bite. I was throwing a spinnerbait made by Mr. Kodairo Kawamura's brand "Bottomup," which I had worked with in Shikoku. The blades are gunmetal and seem to work well in clear water.

Although they did not catch any fish, the members are all at once excited. Forgetting the rain and cold, they regain their concentration.
